i did a little driving the other day. found two open networks within a block of me, and lots of others where the signal strengh wasn't high enough (big front yards in this neighborhood). i also encountered about 5 encrytped networks, so it looks like a lot of people are catching on.

Well, since I'm using wireless-G and most people are still using B, I don't even have to protect the network, I just set it to G only. But it's protected anyway. 🙂

either that or the manufactures are finally turning wep on by default.

I have a large enough front yard such that you would actually have to drive into my driveway for your wardriving. 😛

Plus the fact that I live in a suburban area, and my street is a little bastard road that noone can find. 😛
The builders informed us that when they started building the house that their supplies didn't come on time because the delivery guys couldn't find the road... it's positioned at a really weird angle to the rest of the road, and it's not well marked, so everyone just assumes that my road is a different street, but in fact, IT'S NOT!
