Just sent my resignation letter....

I just got a better paying job and much more interesting. I gotta say though, it feels very weird. I've never done this before.

Now I'm quietly waiting to see how people are going to react...the silence before the storm.

Congrats. I've left two jobs, with two different situations post-resignation.

The first, everyone congratulated me, etc. It was odd because you know it was all empty compliments and whatever.

The second, everyone was sort of surprised that I was leaving. I was treated well, except one person who treated me very poorly and made a lot of remarks about it.

I'd say the former is more common than the latter. Just do a good job your last two weeks, you never know who you'll work with again.

Why did you leave your old employer? How many days/weeks notice did you give them? How may days/weeks notice is reqiured by their policy? Did your resigning affect your benefits? Hourly wage? Job tasks?

Can you not pick up the phone and actually interact with somebody? We have this wonderful invention called the telephone where you can actually talk to somebody and interact. Congrats on your new job but your previous employer is rightfully pissed receiving a resignation letter with no verbal or face to face contact before hand. It's common business courtesy to break such news over phone or face to face. The actual resignation letter is the formality AFTER you have broken the news.

Yeah he should have called the guy, but he did not burn a bridge by e-mailing him. If the OP is good at his job, the method by which he resigned will impact nothing.
