I could have just looked up the answer to this question, but figured it was a good excuse to pop in and say hello 🙂

I'm still plugging away with F@H, and now may be able to expand slightly. I just started working in an office for the first time, and have found myself with a half decent PC that no one else uses but me.

P4 1.8 ghz
256k ddr

I forgot what speed the ram is.

My question- will this machine crunch halfway decent with such a small amount of ram?

Yeah, it will crunch nicely.

on my pc with winxp and f@H loaded it only takes 160mb.
you should be getting a fair few points der day out of a pc like that!

Yes, my parents' PC, used for office type stuff, has Windows 2000 Pro SP4 with 256MB of RAM, and F@H runs fine on it. Windows XP wouldn't be much different. 🙂

Howdy back at ya.
I have a P4 1.8gig machine with 256M RAM that runs WinXP at work and it crunches just fine. F@H is installed as a service which has yet to give me any trouble. F@H memory usage(about 40K on my home machine between the client and the core), while not great, doesnt seem to interfere with any other programs. My only `complaint` is that it lowers my FPS in 3D games a tad........ F@H is CPU intensive, memory usge for the actual crunching is secondary.

Well since no one else has said it, make sure you get permission before you install F@H on it since it's at work!
