I'd like to see more information on the subject, because it sounds interesting.

But currently the only information out there is a couple dozen partisan websites basing their stories on loose bits of information.

Unions are great! Unless they are your employees and going to drive up the cost of your labor.

I think the time of unions has passed. People are far too entitled these days for unions to do any good. It no longer becomes about worker's rights to fair compensation and working conditions and becomes about what worker's want, despite what the market suggests. Don't get me wrong, if I could join a union that would double my pay, I'd join up right away.

How do you know the right wing is lying? Its lips are moving!

No accountablity, no honesty, no integrity. They post blatant falsehoods and slanders and NOBODY holds them to account.

Absolutely disgraceful and sickening behaviour. Standard MO for them.

Would you please provide evidence to that?

How do you provide evidence that proves something DIDN'T happen? That is impossible. I never had sex with my mother but I can provide NO evidence to prove it.

How about you provide some EVIDENCE that it DID happen?

So, in other words you have nothing to base your claim on other than your general hatred of anything non-liberal. Gotcha, sparky. :)

The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employees' rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative. The first chart details steps in the unfair labor practice process, and the second details the representation election process.

I don't know why there would be a reason to petition an "independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employees' rights to organize." Seems like a union would be a good fit.

Agreed; what is good for the goose, is good for the gander.

Unless that gander is wealthy, white and conservative.

I disagree. The export of manufacturing jobs and the decline of the middle class track tightly with the decline in union participation. Predatory capitalists have been running amuck while American workers have been in a political stupor.

With highspeed networks and offshore industrial capacity, Unions are kind of Obsolete.

Companies will continue to send jobs overseas, making Unions not effective.

The only way to stop the insanity is to cut off the oxygen from the fire.

This means stop borrowing money to buy shit all the time, go back to 1950s style personal spending.

Unions were effective in maintaining trade tariffs to the extent that their membership represented a formidible voting block. As membership dropped and the political clout of unions faded the tariffs were the first thing to go. Workers apathetic to their own self-interests shot themselves in the feet.

I agree with you about borrowing.

Then why does liberal California have the highest rates of income inequality in the nation?

Because California has lots of high earning highly educated professionals along with lots of poorly educated illegals ? Liberal California also has a much higher per capita income than right-wing Texas.

Are you suggesting the decline in union participation led to the export of manufacturing jobs?

I suspect it's the other way around. Exporting manufacturing jobs led to fewer jobs meaning fewer union members.

And in some cases union activity is what caused the exporting of manufacturing jobs.

That seems to be the standard narrative told by folks who choose to export jobs but it was the removal of tariffs that makes exporting jobs economical. Protectionism worked, it just worked for the wrong people.

And what exactly did tariffs do that were good? Make foreign goods more expensive simply because they were foreign? Yeah! Go America!

Let's also take into account the average auto worker (unionized) makes $29 an hour before calculating benefits. Why should unskilled labor make $60,000 a year?
