It was a lot like 1984, but it had enough differences to not be a ripoff. In fact, the only thing it really had in common was the government control, which wasn't a new idea for 1984 anyway. I highly recommend this movie.

To be honest, I rarely see a movie more than once in theatres, but this one definitely deserves a

Agreed. Saw it on an IMAX. Would have ruled on a 13" black and white portable. I so desperately want to send a copy to the white house.

I was TOTALLY into her until about the second star wars prequel when some interviews and statements showed her to be a total and complete bitch. Since then she's mellowed tremendously. I have a feeling it was largely due to school stresses combining with the weight of being part of such an epic. I forgive her.

Seriously, it's her mind that turns me on even more than her body. People that smart are just INSANELY HOT!

it veered away from the comic. in the comic, there was the eyes, ears, mouth, and finger of the govt. V systematically eliminated one at a time. (yeah, in the movie he got the mouth, but didnt show the rest.)

and the chief detective was the one that killed V.

oh, in the movie, how did V keep standing after all those bullets in the last fight scene? a TON of bullets went thru his armor.

Presumably he was super human. That's how he was able to throw people with such tremendous force and move at such high speeds.

This movie was complete and utter garbage. I remember the thread in ATOT About the "liberal agenda" and thinking how paranoid the guy was being. I'm really liberal and this movie was an insult to my intelligence. Who wants to watch a movie that is 99% beating you over the head with your own political beliefs and 1% blood and explosions? Not me.

I then read up on the original comic book, and would have preferred that story. The comic book story was maybe a little preachy. The wachowski brothers took that and exaggerated everything to make a very obvious analogy to modern politics, then beat you over the head with politics and just totally abandoned any other plot.

This is most likely the worst movie I have seen in years, if not ever.

On the up side, the acting was superb, even by Portman.

Political views aside, I thought the movie sucked. I'm an easily entertained person and this movie was boring.

Yes. The action was poorly shot, too many quick cuts and jittery cameras. The best part of the movie, as you can gather from ATOT, was the eggs in a basket.

torpid: definitely had to agree with that one there.

TripleAAA: I read that thread, and I am considering making that toast right now. :D
