So yeah, we just showed a sneak preview of the new movie Confidence, starring Edward Burns, Andy Garcia, Paul Giamatti, Dustin Hoffman and Rachel Weisz. Apart from some projectionist fvckups (what, like we can't tell the audio just went from stereo to mono and back!?), it was a good movie...the buildup was rather average, but it never got slow, which is often the case with a "campy" crime/con movie. The ending threw me, along with all of the other movie nuts that were there with me (I'm part of the student org that organizes these showings, these other guys really know their movies)...but that being said, you'll probably be expecting it now. All in all, it was a 2.5/4 for the first hour and 15, but the last 15 minutes really brought the movie up to a 3. Great acting parts from Hoffman and Garcia, as expected...Burns was good, but was a little bit too "cool" at times. The black actor (was also in Soul Food or something like that, can't remember his name) overacted his part, and it wasn't even that big...Rachel Weisz did her role pretty well, but some of the shots didn't really do her justice.

Just imagine a slightly more..."rough" Usual Suspects, w/o a catch phrase ("Who is Keyser Soze!?), and a bit more humor, and you'll be getting close.

I'd suggest the movie, if you're into nice crime/suspense movies.

I just saw this movie tonight.

Great little con-gig flick.

For some odd reason the projectionist also screwed up but it wasn't unforgivable. I'all admit the ending was unexpected, but not as cunning as in the usual suspects.

Hoffman certainly earned his paycheck.
