I just got back from watching Sunshine, the new sci-fi thriller movie directed by Danny Boyle (the guy who directed 28 Days Later) and I have one statement.. go SEE IT.

Typical film critics trashed different parts of it but if you like sci-fi, Danny Boyle, science in general, or the battle between religious fundamentalism and science go see it!

Not only that but its very accurate (as much as theoretical physics can be!) The science adviser for the movie is the head honcho at CERN in Switzerland.

(EDIT) AS Slick said - The Rotten Tomatoes score is a 74% which is REALLY good. Most good movies hover between 54-64 and are certified fresh. Also I don't think you can trust critics anyway since they don't understand sci-fi to begin with.

(edit FOR THOSE THAT HAVE SEEN) Read the Wikipedia article - it explains the second half. I'm surprised so many people on ATOT didn't like the second half - considering it is the epic struggle between fundamentalism and logic/science.

I thought it was very fitting considering it was scary and its what Boyle does best.

Threads like these attract negative attention which ruin my chances for liking the movie.

So I'll take your word for it and will never return to this thread ever again.

I go to theatres and buy the nachos. I put alot of jalapeño peppers on them. Then I giggle when the people next to me start sneezing.... in real time.

Once that one devil guy showed up, the movie went down hill for me. I mean, didn't he get exposed to the sun's full power when the physics guy first saw him in the sun room? I woulda preferred it if one of their own turned on them and became all evangelical.

The movie had potential to be a great psychological thriller but just broke down into silliness in the second half. This movie had so much potential, i LOVED the first half. And it needs to stop borrowing scenes from Event Horizon.

They didn't explain at all what that guy was and it just ruined it. I like the idea of "being the last man with God", but they abused the hell out of it. It had so much potential.

I was tensed up in the first half. They set up all sorts of juicy interaction between the characters.

I would have preferred if they didn't introduce the guy who somehow survived 100% sun intensity that fried his crewmates.

I really wanted the psych officer to be the one who went crazy. Oh well.

A lot of people say that and I kind of agree. It was kind of weird and the movie took a different turn than I had expected, but I still walked away feeling like I'd seen the best sci-fi movie that's been released in a while.

all the horrible reviews? It has a 74% on RT, which for this type a movie (you get it or you don't), that's pretty solid.

Perhaps they didn't like it because many ATOT'ers are fundamentalist Christians.
