Just saw Dogma...

Orsorum

Lifer
I'd heard a lot of negative reviews from my Christian friends (not really surprised about that...)... but I thought it was hilarious. I didn't agree with some of the humor (not a pot smoker, etc.)... but it was surprisingly thought-provoking.

Again... a lot of Kevin Smith's humor is foreign to me... but, I was impressed with this film.

Just my $.02.

It's great! Watch Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy (just to complete the set), and then Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

The last one has lots of references to the others.

yes it's a good movie. go watch all of them and then watch j&sbsb. not thought provoking, but tons of fun if you get all the jokes 🙂

I made the fateful mistake of watching J&SB first... I should just spend a weekend watching the prequel movies, then watch it again. Hmm.

ouch. i would just give up and shoot myself at that point 😛

the funny thing about Dogma is that they made so many great points about the church without being completely down on it.

Dogma is pro-religion. Kevin Smith is actually Catholic. People who say its anti-religion either haven't seen it or wasn't paying attention.

I was surprised with Kevin Smith on this one... he was really, really good with this subject. Again, I was impressed with him.

I wouldn't be surprised. 🙂

Dogma isn't as much "anti-religion" as it is anti organized religion. Most people can't get past the sarcarsm and dick and fart jokes to get the real meaning of the movie.

I loved it...although it can't hold a candle to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back...possibly the funniest movie ever created 🙂

Thirded. Buddy Jesus loves you.

MY LOVE FOR YOU IS LIKE A TRUCK BERSERKER! <- Name that movie!

Clerks!

"Do you smell shoe polish? "

"I think i can see her kidney"

"I'm not even supposed to be here!"

I didn't care for it much either and I loved Clerks and Chasing Amy. Mallrats, Dogma and J&SBSB were pretty disappointing.

I never saw it, but a lot of my religious friends said they thought it was good.
I just saw Jay and Silent Bob strike back a couple days ago, and that was actually the first J@SB movie I had seen. To be honest, I wasn't really impressed. I guess it's funny how they cuss a lot and stuff, but the humor gets real old real fast.

There are lot's of references to Kevin Smith's other movies in J& SBSB, you won't pick up on them unless you see them also.
