its not bad acting its bad directing and script writing. Pretty much impossible to act in those circumstances.

No, no; it's really bad acting amplified by a bad script and lazy directing.

The blame for those scenes goes on lucas. You cant tell me you now think less of natalie portman or hayden christensen as actors because of how poorly they were in those roles.

Right. Because George was like "no no no you guys are getting it all wrong. I want you to be SH|TTY actors and RUIN the film... yeah, right, more like that. Good job."

Get real. Portman and Christensen need acting lessons.

Edit: Possible spoilers alert

  • Horrible script/laughable dialogue(but I did expect that).
  • Acting was hit and miss.
  • Editing was a bit choppy, sometimes felt like we entered scenes in the middle of a conversation.
  • CGI not very improved over last movie(Like when Obi Wan was pinned by the platform in the beginning, it looked like he was crushed to death).
  • The last 20 minutes were excellent and made up for the first 2 hours.
  • The very last scene with the great music and the sunset brought a tear to me eye, very nice.
  • Overall grade: B

Even though I really think that they could have did so much more with the movie instead of focusing the movie way too much on darth vader, I think it was good. I got chills down my spine when they put the helmet on anakin, but then laughed at the "NOOOOO!" Part.

way to change the subject.

but she's not as bad as everyone makes her out to be, now is she?

Face it, Portman isn't immune to suckiness, no matter the awards. Too bad she doesn't have teh hotness (or the hair) to help when she does teh suck.

-too much cgi
-petite suited Vader
-crappy dialogue (not the actors' faults)
-no love scene between Yoda and yaddle

but overall I would give it 7/10 and rank it 3rd out of all the episodes.

My single greatest complaint was the quality of the acting. It was truly horrendous. Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman were laughably bad. Yes, I realize the dialogue was bad to begin with, but those two actors couldn't pull it off.

That was a good line.

i disliked the film. would not recommend esp. not here in nyc where admission is
10.50

as for the acting, you misunderstanding critical components of the film's roots.
the film series is largely based on 1930s saturday matinee serials, where the loud,
emotionally deep and explosive acting you see in public theatres is not appropriate
for the stylings of this genre.

its not necessarily that haydn or natalie gave bad performances. its that lucas held
them back emotionally because the narrative itself is driven by the story and not
by character-centered psychodramas. haydn and natalie had to do more with
less. natalie, i think, succeeded only in the end, whereas haydn never solved
the puzzle. ian mcdermit was magnificent and anchored the acting ensemble.
ewan mcgregor was fine too.

also remember there is the influence of manichean mythology (a black and white
moral universe) where individuals are just toys in a much larger scheme with set
roles and a pre-arranged outcome. they each a live prescribed fate. they have to
act that out with as little noise as possible from their thespian egos.

Just got back from seeing it, you can't beat having the theatre practically to yourself and only paying $6 .

Definatly the best movie of the prequels. All of that action we've been waiting for finally comes to fruition. But the ending really felt rushed. And suprisingly there were few moments of boring dialouge.... simply because there was so little dialouge... looks like Lucas learned a little ;)

Some of the editing felt really rough considering the money spent on the film. Did Spielberg really direct parts of the film? If so I'd like to know what scenes.

Now for my all important, life affirming rating.... I give it a solid B overall. Special effects and action wise an A.

Triple ditto.

The first movies were realistic in the emotional sense. They acted like normal people caught up in a really bad, fantastic situation.

But ole Georgie boy was trying too hard for his "SPACE OPERA", and thats what he got:
Opera quality acting and writing, which is fine on daytime TV. But its complete crap on epic sci-fi movies.

My 2 cents.
