I actually thought about this that if you did this on the side you could make some pretty good money with little effort... problem is you have to live in one of the 5 or so states listed on the top of the can that does a 5 or 10 cent refund per can... here you can only make like 2 cents a can or less

When I was like 6, I made 60$ collecting cans all summer once.. and we were out in the boonies!
It helped that there was a little makeshift campground near our house that was always populated... tons of beer containers would always be left there, lol.
It was a lot back then ... lol
