In all seriousness, DON'T choose another MMO if you're serious about regaining control of your time. I was raiding 5 nights a week, and can vouch for how much better I've felt in so many ways since leaving. The few games I've grabbed since then do NOT suck me in for hours at a time, and it's a good thing.

I have fun every now and again with Galactic Civilizations 2. It's a "4x" turn based strategy game. I like it cause I can start/stop at any minute whenever I feel like it. Reminds me a lot of Alpha Centauri, but infinitely better. It's very replayable to me, and it can be quite challenging. As far as RTS games go, my favorite is still the old school Total Annihilation with the Core Contingency. I like Supreme Commander, but it isn't as good IMO. (I haven't tried the expansion yet.) As far as RPGs go, Since quitting wow, I have pretty much steered clear of RPGs. I played some Hellgate London, but I got bored of it pretty quickly.

Now, do I honestly care if this stereotype about the average WoW player revolving their entire lives around the game continues to spread? Not really. I am sick of hearing it because it is obviously false, but I don't take it personally. I hope that the above estimates (even when considering some margin of error) put things in better perspective though.

You need to get out more. :D

Trust me. If I wasn't bored at work, I wouldn't have bothered with that lol. It was still interesting to me though. I never took the time to think about it like that.

Heh, I put waaayyyyy to much time in Wow and after BC came out and I hit 70, I just totally lost interest in another gear grind so I deleted my characters and broke my disks in half. I've been WoW free for close to a year and love it. Got my life back on track also.

Great game but its just to addictive. I love MMORPGs but its very hard for me to be a casual player on them.

I never liked WoW, but Oblivion is by far my favorite RPG available now. NWN2 and Mask of the Betrayer are pretty good, but their biggest plus is that you can d/l player made campaigns that are pretty good. So replayability is really high, and you can try out new classes as much as you want. The controls and layout is also much better than WoW, which is why I couldn't get into WoW (poor UI in my opinion). I haven't played the Witcher yet. I don't like Sins that much, but that is mainly because it doesn't have a campaign, so it just hasn't drawn me in. It might not be a big deal for you, since you loved WoW.

edit: I just noticed that MoO was one of your favorite games. I suggest trying Galactic Civilizations 2, and the Dark Avatar. Very good turn based strategy games. They are very addicting though, and it may have been the biggest reason I broke up with my ex.

Hey guys,

Finally quit wow after selling my accounts and restarting more than 3 times. Every time I quit I end up coming back as other games just don't compare. What games should I add to my collection? I am more an RPG/RTS kinda guy but I like FPS too.

I am really looking for a nice RPG that has alot of replayability. Currently Oblivion is helping to ease the pain.

Games I have: CoD4, Orange Box, Oblivion, AoE 3

Favorite Games: Star Control series, Pax Imperia, WoW, Masters of Orion, Masters of Magic

Games I'm thinking of getting : Sins of a solar empire

Like I said, if anyone has an idea for a great RPG let me know, MMORPG's are always good but WoW has been taking everything over. Also not interested in EVE tbh.

Thanks in advance all you wonderful people!

If you like Sins of a Solar Empire and Master of Orion, you should try Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.

Hugely, vastly underrated game. Very pretty graphics, neat story, decent voice acting, almost epically cinematic gameplay. It's similar to Homeworld from what I've heard. I never played Homeworld.
