Just put my cat to sleep (Now w/ pix of cat)

So I just got back from the vet, I put my cat to sleep today, it was very emotional. I've had the cat since I was 5, I'm 21 now. I cried, a lot, Thursday, yesterday, and of course today. obviously because I am very sad to loose such a good friend and pet, and he was an awesome pet, but I also cried because I knew I was doing the right thing.

I make this post in honor and tribute to Leonardo or flea lee, or lee lee, or fleavious, or fleavious magnus, or the ever so popular flea-butt (and no, he didn't have fleas...) he has been with me and a cornerstone to my world for the past 15 and a half years and I can only hope that this truly isn't the end but the beginning for him and perhaps even for myself to our next journey in life and in death.

I know this isn't my blog, and this is a fitting blog entry, but I felt is was something that I wanted to share and I couldn't think of anyone else to share it with.

To my cat, I loved you buddy.

edited to fix some grammatical issues, and the fact that I misused the word sojourners.

Hear hear, a toast to Flea Butt:wine:
Here's to a life well lived

Our condolences OP. It is so hard to do the right thing, but it is the last gift you can give back.

:brokenheart:

We had to put a kitten to sleep back in February and it was tough.

Just think of the 16 great years you gave him.

I'm sure he is where "What Dreams May Come" happily chasing mice and birds. You'll see him again one day. Love is a bond that is unbreakable.

I felt the same way about my Doctor Indiana Jones. I had to put him to sleep because he was dying of cancer... it's hard to do, but it is the humane thing when they are suffering.

narzy,

I feel your pain. The loss of both the cats I grew up with was extremely hard. My current cat, Buddy, is closer to me than any pet ever has been and his loss is too hard to even contemplate.

I shall raise a toast tonight for you and Leonardo.

I am uploading some hi-res pix their not so good but they are the best I can find right now, this was over a year ago on these images, I don't have many/any recently that I can find but I'll keep looking / uploading

🙁 I had one die when I was 22, he was the last of a batch of 4 we had, the oldest of which I had gotten when I was 4. It was gut wrenching.

Hey, narzy, sometimes we mooks are all here for the very best of reasons, despite our collective (yet awesome in its own right) stupidity.

Sometimes we are called to raise a  and to toast, to signify the very best our beating hearts have been given, even if words fail us.

And guess what, my friend, your words didn't fail Leonardo or you in the least.

Not in the least!

Sorry to hear that. Pets are close family members and it is therefore always so very sad to have one move to the next realm. 🙁
