I matched bet it as 888sports and betfair were offering 4/1 odds for Hillary to win. Whoever wins I get £60
 
They gave you pretty shitty odds (payout), twenty down should get you 160 back that's even giving the odds maker a decent payout.
 
The odds are moving and not in your favor. Either you threw away £20 (likely) or you could have won much more. Either way, nicely done!

HMRC logic is that if they tax gambling winnings that means gambling losses can be deducted and since more people lose than they win it would be a net loss. They just tax the bookies on their profits.
