Yup they do, 20/2.8 AF. Clean little lens. I just picked up the manual AIS version for $180 shipped, should be here this weekend ;)

Yea, they're surprisingly expensive. Is it bad to buy grey market lenses versus lenses marked with US on them?

I'd get the US ones just for the warranty alone.

Depends on the lens. There's not much that could break or wear out on the simpler designs (primes w/o focus motors). On a complex modern zoom though, it's probably a good idea to get the warranty. The focus motors can and do wear out, and quality control issues pop up (then again that could just be the DPR posters being whiny).

Just put in my order for the 18-70. Can't wait until it arrives. Then it's time to experiment.

Ken Rockwell

Recommends the 18-55 which I shoot with as well for commercial real estate tours...it's a great lens at affordable price.

I picked mine up for a little over $100 on ebay...it's better glass than the 18-70..

stop by www.kenrockwell.com and read about it..

top-of-the-line walkaround lens (does everything well enough): Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G VR (D200 kit lens)
plastic fantastic: Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G (D50 or D40 kit lens)
less expensive walkaround lens: Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G (D80 kit lens)
prime: Nikon 50mm f/1.8D (every photographer should have a 50mm prime; it's the standard lens for 35mm, and perfect for portraits on APS-C digital)

I always stick with all-Nikon or Nikkor equipment. This is what is looking up at me when I open my camera bag:
- Nikon D50 w/ 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G
- Nikon 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6G (I hope to replaces this and the 18-55 with the 18-200VR someday)
- Nikon 50mm f/1.8D
- Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4.0D
- Nikon SB-800 speedlight

It's hard to spend money on glass at first. Seems weird how some can be more expensive then the body. But once you commit to one, it's an addiction that is rampaging the world. Worse then gambling.

Only in terms of distortion. f/5.6 @ 55mm is pretty damn slow.

And bleagh, you can do better than Ken.
