I called them up after building my system on their website and as I was talking to the guy I decided that I wanted to upgrade to 4GB of RAM. He cautioned me and said that going from 2GB to 4GB of RAM would actually make games run SLOWER.

First off, I was very pleased that he would advise me to NOT spend additional $$$. Second, though, I wanted to know WHY upgrading from 2 to 4GB actually slows gaming down. He gave me an answer, but to be honest, I really didn't understand it. Can anyone out there explain this to me?

Thanks,

David

I don't think it will make them run slower, but reg win XP doesn't have the ability to use all 4gb of ram. what do you plan on doing that would require that much ram?

The only thing I can think of is when you have all RAM slots filled, it goes to 2t format and slow down the memory speed a bit. At least that's what it does for ddr400...

Win XP can only use up to 3GB of RAM, but if you are planning on upgrading to Windows Vista, 4GB of RAM would be a good idea. You can always upgrade later when Vista comes out.
