Oh! I'm humbled by the accolades! :p It seems that I've struck a chord with ATOTers who realize the value of maintaining their sanity in today's dog-eat-dog reality of the corporate world. Please feel free to impart with other useful Corporate Survival Skills that you have honed over the years. In due time, we may have an invaluable library of such "skills" which any Tom, Dick or Harry can benefit from. I'm sure there's enough corporate sleaziness in ATOT to make this happen!

Indeed and therein lies the beauty of the "wally reflector".

Seems like a dick move to me. Guess I just don't know.

Yeah it is a dick move. Watch the guy build a template and provide it to you by tomorrow and then suggest for the input you provide to be detailed and documented a certain way.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you are an inexperienced young grasshopper who has just set foot into the corporate world, aka Asok. In due course of time, you will come to cherish this treasure that I have just shared with ATOT and realize the error in your judgement.

I make a living out of this. Hell, my bosses tell me to do it all of the time.

I underwrite construction bonds. Agents are lazy and rarely send in a 'complete submission'. They also like to send things in at the last minute (I know it's 2:00, but this job bids at 3:00 today!). Our corporate philosophy is to say "I'd love to help but I need..." and give them a laundry list of 10-20 items. Works wonders at teaching agents to not be lazy and send in bid requests a couple of days early.

Sounds awesome!

It is sort of a gamble, the guy may surprise you and have that template for you first thing in the morning. However I think it is a risk well worth it.

No, it's not a gamble. What you fail to realize is that it's all a game. The original guy threw out a challenge to mark his place as alpha male. OP just flipped the challenge gently back to the original guy - respecting the alpha-ness but deflecting the work. Original guy has many more opportunities to show off his alpha-ness. The actual work of making that template puts it fairly far down on his list - it ain't gonna happen.

Good job OP.

WTF . . . this is a bunch of pseudo-intellectualism here. I've been playing The Game? for ten years and I just sniffed a bunch of verbal B.S. What the OP described has nothing to do with alpha males trying to dominate coworkers; you way overly complicated the scenario. Hell if anything this type of behaviour is the exact opposite of being an alpha male.

Look I give the OP two thumbs up and I do think this is somewhat awesome, but again this is not the type of action Type A alpha males would do to assert dominance.

It depends on how they're standing.

Fat freakin' chance.
Dude, he's still trying to find out what "template" means.

Great, now I just lost the game. Thanks for nothing.
