Just Pre-Ordered WotLK

This is the funny thing about mmo's, no matter how good the game is your experience and enjoyment is largely based off of the people and friends in game. I think the only reason me or my brother still plays is because the other one does. While to some it may sound like were subjecting each other to torture for no reason, it's the playing together that makes the game enjoyable. How often do you go "OMG remember that time..."

When the original came out my brother ordered CE's for the both of us...dumbass didn't understand you had to put down a deposit to garuntee a copy, so when they asked if he wanted to he said no. Since then I've seen no reason to even buy the collectors edition. The pet doesn't interest me, the art IS tempting, but I don't think thats really worth $30.

Plan on doing the same as I did for BC. Waiting about 2 weeks, then picking it up. There is a big advantage to being a few weeks behind the masses. I did this in BC, although because at the time I couldn't play because of school, and it worked out very well.

yep, that's the reason why I still play WoW even though I can't remember the last time I was able to raid....the server community, guildies, and virtual friends.

Well my server is pretty much dead and I'm not paying $25 to transfer. It' blizzards fault for running too many servers, because it's bad PR to consolidate a few. They are holding out until WOTLK, but my game experience has been bad enough on a dead server that I'm not going to buy WOTLK. Vote with your wallet.

Don't roll on alterac mountians BTW.

yea i got my order in at gamestop, woudl have prefered amazon but whatever i think my bro got his TBC CE from gamestop online, he had no issues

I ordered from amazon, but they aren't shipping it a day early and since the day they ship it is a Friday it won't arrive until Monday.... If I didn't run two accounts and so will get a reguluar edition as well somewhere else I'd be tempted to cancel frankly. Others probably the same way so maybe they'll reopen sales in the future.

It is somewhat normal for a MMO, just WoW now seems to be the most dated and it didn't age well, at all. The expansion pack brings WoW close to some original XBox games, not the top of the line ones but not the poorest on the system either. At least they have shadows now that don't belong in QBert

One thing that allows people to tollerate WoW is their art direction tends to be exceptional, no matter how horrible the graphics engine they use is.

It would be a very bad business decision for Blizz to beef up the graphics too much. As it stands, WotLK is already harsher on frame rates in many zones than Vanilla WoW or TBC has ever been. The graphics is better. It's just not a make over.

You don't mean that. You mean they shouldn't increase system demands too much, not the graphics. The graphics engine is horrificly poor, and yeah, I know a little something about rendering technology. They could make several generational leaps in graphics quality while not decreasing framerate at all for a very large portion of their userbase, actually, it would speed the game up considerably for a lot of them.

i think the game looks fine at 1680x1050 with 8XAA/8xAF

i could prob turn the AA/AF up also

max settings and ive done that commantline thing to up the ground detail

If all you play for an extended period of time is WoW, it looks OK, Fire up Crysis or even a now getting dated game like Oblivion and they utterly demolish WoW- not by a little bit here or there- in every way possible. BTW- odd rez on your monitor, mine is 1680x1050 and I also play 8x/16x- the game looks like a clean XBox1 game in Wrath, somewhere betweet a N64 and PS2 game pre wrath(some PS2 games still look better then WoW, PS3 games are now lagging behind PCs).

yea that was a typeO its 1680x1050

and i do play newer games ive played bioshock, & crysis, i dont expect MMOs to look like crysis, hell crysis is near unplayable unless you have a super computer anyway, i cant imagin trying to play it with hundreds of other people doing random shit

and honestly i couldent really care less about the graphics

In terms of enjoyment of the game, certainly they are very low on the priority list, but you said yourself you run at 8x/8x, so obviously you care some

Given how long the game has been out, would it have really killed them to have localized higher poly mesh models with shaders for everything? I can understand why implementing decent IK would be problematic in an MMO and wouldn't expect such things, but graphics load options that are entirely client side should be a more then reasonable expectation.

to be perfectly honest i dont actually remember turning that on, the only reason i know its 8x/8x is because i looked at my settings last night for a discission on another forum

I play at 1680x1050 with 4xAA and it looks fine to me. I also run with 5 shadows just fine... oh and Death Knight voices too... supposedly that takes more CPU :laugh:.
