Just played Portal for the first time

I just gotta say. Man, what a game. Incredibly inventive. The ending was a trip.

Also short as hell.

The portal gun has to be foreshadow weapon. Valve would be foolish not putting it in Episode 3.

When Valve's on its game, it's world class.

Cheers.

Well yeah, considering they mention Aperture Science in Ep. 2, its obviously going to make an appearance.

It was one of the few pure puzzle games that I really loved and would continue playing more levels.

I need to get that game. But GW, Titan Quest, and Bioshock are ahead of it should I purchase it.

I Loved Titan Quest and Bioshock. You'll kick yourself later if you finish them before Portal though. It's really one of the most "must play" games of all time.

Yeah, I was behind the curve a bit and played it a few months after it came out, and I missed out. Put it at the top of the list. As mentioned, short, but great.

also,

the orange box is on sale for PC for $24.99 this week at Circuit City

I had to buy another one, cause I gave my Steam account to a friend and I miss portal and HL2 EP2

Portal is a great game, but I must add that it felt like little more than a training mission, which I suppose is a valid challenge.

The portal device will really shine once we find ourselves in more complex and larger environments and situations, with other players and more objects involved. Imagine taking it to something like Jurassic Park 🙂

The Omega Man (I Am Legend) also comes to mind for a fun scenario for it. Imagine calculating not only the ordinary physics, but also factoring the darkness and light for offensive and defensive purposes.

Ah well, ip rights not withstanding, I'm sure there is something good in the pipes for the future of Portal.

Portal is a very nice game but I believe it's a little overrated, heck it's so overrated that Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation fame had nothing negative to say about it 😕

Doesn't stop it from being a must-play game but some people are borderline fanatical on the game, the companion cube has spawned so many geek jokes.

Actually, Yahtzee helped convince me to get the Orange Box. If so many people say it is something good, I figured it was a must-play. Now, should I play Ep 1 and 2 before Portal, or should I play Portal first?

Yeah, after hearing so much about the WCC I was a little puzzled.

Big fan, minor criticism... I am NOT falling all over myself in love with the end song. I see people on the net going nuts about it but I just don't get it. It's mildy amusing but I'm not going to make a youtube dance video to it.

People are strange.

Finished Portal on Sunday. It was very short, but it seemed like just the right length in a way. The last level really made the game. It was a great game and a good experience and pretty funny on occasion. Someone complained about he ending song, but I thought it was a great topper for the end. I can understand why the game got so much praise. BTW, what is the purpose of doing the achievements? I understand why you would want to do the achievements for TF2, but for Portal..?

You seemed to imply the Yahtzee succumbs to hype and carries on reviews similar to PC Gamer, IGN, etc. If anything, I'd say Yahtzee is far, far more cynical.

Oh, and Portal f'in rocked.

This reminds me. I was going to reinstall Portal the other day and play through it again.

I should do it now before I forget again.
