I have been searching for what seems like ever now to find a wireless adapter that gives a solid boost to my signal. My neighbor lets me use his wireless, only problem is he is just far enough to where it was always a pain in the ass to get a reliable connection. My last attempt was a Buffalo usb adapter with one of their high gain attennas, 6.5dbi is what the box claimed. It sorta worked, when it wanted to. Did a better job then my D-Link (which isn't saying much)

BB has the Linksys SRX400's on sale this week. $99 is the same price as Newegg, figured I'd pick it up the worst is I'll be taking it back if I can't connect well. I've NEVER liked Linksys products that much. SRX sounds pretty cool, but I was sceptical, especially since I don't like Linksys and my neighbors router isn't SRX. I figured this purchase would be a "try, then return within 2 days" Installed the drivers, hooked it up, and BOOM it connected on my 2nd try. The try icon is showing the connect at max bars but says "very low" when I hover. with a 54mb connection. Like I said I've tried 3 or 4 other adapters and never got more then a so-so connection that would drop whenever it felt like it.

I just did a ping with 1000 packets to test, dropped 2%, which is MUCH better then the others, which would drop at least 30% making the internet unusable. pages pop up quick, downloaded a few programs and it seemed to be fine. dslreports told me I was getting 510/142. Which is pretty slow for Charter, but with any other adapter I'd be lucky to get half that, usually less. at $99 bucks this sucker is expensive. And I don't know if it'll work for everybody. But I was in the market for something to give me better range, and this has been the best by far. thought I'd pass the info along for anyone having a similar problem like I was.
