The OCZ are good sticks for Lower Latencies, but they are not really good for ocing. However the divider is your friend. Having the low latencies in action on 2GB?s you will have a nice rig.

That is good mem. But I like the last review on newegg. The guy says he has it running at 245 Fsb "AMAZING". Lmao.... Ya amazing it runs well under stock speed, what high expectations lol..

if you are going to get anything performance wise and look to OC in the future, wait and get the OCZ 2 x 1GB 4000EB when they are widely available, they are the best 2GB DC set hands down.

thanks for the help guys.
been reading how to oc so didnt' reply fast. sorry.

now i have questions again .
with the ocz memory. i am going to oc my opteron to 2.6 G.
so that has to be 288.889 x 9 = 2600 right?
so i have to oc the memory to 289 as well?
or i have to use the divider to set to 2/3 ?
plz correct me if i am wrong, i just read how to oc this afternoon, so i am not sure.
i'll be happy to have the opteron running at 2.6G, so if the ocz memory can handle it i'll keep it otherwise i need to return it.

thanks alot

2x1024M won't have any problem running 1T, right?
G-Skill kit looks nice

I'd rather use the divider to keep the ram running at low latency and stock speed than to have it run at higher speed but higher latency. But everyone tweaks their system differently so its totally up to you. I mean is having 1:1 ratio that important anymore with HTT? correct me if im wrong though

I was just about to say that you can't run it at 1T, but then I remembered that anything above two sticks won't run at 1T, so you should be fine.

If you want to run 1T with more than two sticks you need one of those new mobos I believe from Asus. A pimp mobo, forget the name, but it can run 4 sticks at 1T. Granted it's at a lower clock speed, but yeah....

And this I suppose has no real point...I'll stfu now.

I can confirm that my MSI Neo4 SLI can almost never do 1T with 4x512M (except at DDR200 speed, but who run DDR400 at DDR200 anyway)
I remember reading it somewhere running 2x1024M at 1T should be no biggie, can anyone confirm this?

Hi Guys!

I'm also looking for the optimal RAM for my new Opteron 165. Therefore I sent an email to OCZ Technical Support (Question: Best 2x1GB RAM for OC with opteron 165?).
They wrote:

"The PC-3200 2GB Platinum Edition Kit offers low latency operation in a 2GB Kit. If you want to overclock, as many users do, we manufacture PC-4000 2GB Gold Edition memory. The latency is not aggressive, but it will perform very well when pushed to 250MHZ due to increased bandwidth on the chipset/CPU. 3-4-3-8 timings are actually faster than the typical 3-4-4-8 timings of most 2GB PC-4000 modules.

I think that you should go with PC-3200 2GB Platinum Edition*. You can run it at a 5/4 ratio and overclock your CPU while running at low latency and I believe this would give you the best possible performance. "

*OCZ Technology DIMM Kit 2048MB PC4000 DDR CL3-3-2-8 Platinum EL (PC500) (OCZ5002048EBPE-K)

The question is, if this Ram goes up to 577 (2x288) MHz for reaching 2600MHz (9x288)?
Please... what role plays the devider?

Greetings
Mike.

A divider allows you to run the ram at a slower speed than your fsb. Sometimes its not the best to run the ram at higher speeds while sacrificing lower lantency. I also have an opteron 165 that i got from monarch a couple of days ago and now I am just waiting on my DFI nF4 SLI-DR Expert to arrive to start setting up the rig. This is the ram i got for the system.

No matter what fsb i get the opty to run at i will use the divider to keep ram running at ddr400 so that i can keep the low timings. Ive read in a couple of forums that the ram can actually do 2-2-2-5-1T on the dfi so lets hope it works on my system.

Personally I really think it depends what mobo u have. I'm also lookin for some ram for a 165 and I've found that OCZ's EL DDR PC3500 Gold GX XTC Dual Channel 2x512 are really good for the Asus A8N32 mobo I wanna get or the better DFI's. I've seen a review where some ppl g0t it up to 480mhz at 3.1v with 2-2-2-5 timings stable. But like i said it really depends on the mobo. I'm not an expert but I don't think all mobo's can go up to 3.1v or handle 480mhz and also I don't know how that would perform if u want 2gigs of ram and use up all your slots.

I've got 2x1024 ocz running at 1T on a msi neo4 plat sli. I had to set the timings by hand though to get there.
