Just ordered myself a BFG 6800 Ultra OC

http://www.bfgtech.com/6800.html 😀

Cost me about $600 (w/shipping). Hope my 520W Aspire PSU will suffice.. (I guess, with 37 Amps on the +12V)

Edit: For several weeks, my plan was to order the Sapphire X800 XT. 6800 Ultra was my alternative all along, but it was like $70 more. Two days ago I saw this BFG 6800 Ultra OC for $590 which is cheaper than the X800XT which is priced at $625 without shipping. I read some reviews of this powerbeast and found it very promising. I chose to put my first priority in the future with SM3.0, HDR, UltraShadow 2 etc etc. I think the 425MHz core, 1.1GHz RAM and 1.6ns RAM will perform well enough for my needs at least through this year. I might try overclocking after a while.

(I am aware that these prices seem too high for most americans and others... but this is prices from norwegian webshops, and $600 with shipping is the cheapest 6800 Ultra available. Video cards are more expensive here than in the US for the same reasons Volkswagen is more expensive in the US than Germany 😉 )

Btw: Card is AGP.

Congratulations and recommendations please

$590 without shipping. I hope it'll be worth it 🙂 I'll edit my first post with reasons to why I chose this card rather than the X800XT which I had first had planned buying.

6800ultra is better than x800xt pe i just took my x800xt out to put my ultra back in- all around better card and ati drivers suck

I hope I'll agree with you after having tested the card. One thing is bothering me though.. I don't have any LCD displays yet, and still I bough a video card with dual DVI. Will using a VGA-DVI adapter cause any performance or image quality loss?

edited. (also, please spell it pcie{or pci-e}. pcix is a slot type for high end workstations. completely different and incompatiable with video cards.)

btw, congrats and $590 isnt that bad.

Don't spank him for this. I edited the original message and added the AGP-part after he wrote his first post 😉 And thanks! Can't wait. I'll have it here on friday (2 days)

Well if it was $590 in US dollars, then wow, you really overpaid.

People were getting this card for $350 from Outpost a couple of weeks ago, and you should be able to find it at Newegg or a number of other etailers for $500 or less.

NOK->USD is really, really low nowadays. 1$ is 6,4kr. $590 * 6,4 = 3795,- (estimated). (Edit: The cheapest X800XT is 3995,- NOK for comparison)

I guess I would get it for like $100 in India, but Norway is the wealthiest country in the world per citizen, and therefore I guess the prices are higher to fit the incomes. Doesn't mean my income is huge though... so 😛 but it was the cheapest 6800 ultra available in Norway. Buying from Newegg would be great, until I had to use the warranty, and then hell breaks loose. But this is the past. The card is coming now.

Dang, didnt realize pci-e was that much more expensive. I ordered an 6800 Ultra oc bunndled with a 530 watt ps from bfg for about 550
