Waiting for my reseller (who, as usual, will give me credit for the parts being replaced) to email me a list of RAM choices now. 🙂

Should be a nice upgrade from what I have listed in my sig.

Oh and...GO, AMD!!!😎

I tend to upgrade every three years and not wait until parts break. Three years time is up. 😀

Hey I just went from a similar rig (Opteron 185, 4 gb OCZ Platinum DDR400, ASUS A8N5X) to the system in my sig - you'll be real pleased with that chip!

Cool.😎 It needs to last me ~three years (timeframe for me to save the money needed for upgrading). I got a Vista 64 Ultimate SP1 disc as a gift for it also.

Going from a s939 X2 4200+ to a modern Quad was an incredible leap in performance.

I still use that x2 4200+ as a vent server. What a waste of power!

me too going from opty 165 w/ 2gb ram to a x3-720 w/ 4gb ram was a real shock in terms of gaming performance. Im sure the extra 2gb had alot to do w/ it, but the architecture and 7.5mh cache of the new cpu is really something else. Dawn of War2 went from 13fps to 30 fps @ 1680x1050!(everything maxed) shweet!

That's what I bought to cool it also.

This is an AWESOME cooler, you will have good results, my 940 running at 2.8 never goes over 60C unless you are doing small FFT's in prime for 12+ hours, then it hits 63 🙂 At stock clocks/voltage that cooler kept it under 44c

I have not got into a real world situation that will take my CPU above 60 though not even crysis.

This is all in my hot no AC apartment which is 25-30c most of the time.

Just see my last post in the thread here, there were some issues i had with the cooler but its a good excuse to lap the heatsink
