I also ordered the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 939 90nm retail box from ZZF and a Thermalright XP 90 from Excaliber PC. I forgot to add I already have the Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard and The Maxtor 250 GB SATA II hard drive with 16 mb cache. I also have a 21" trinitron monitor so no LCD for me.

Hmm, a 600w Powerstream. That's overkill for that rig. Only 512mb of RAM? You'll need 1GB. And what mobo are you getting? Anyway looks good except for those two concerns.

2 DVD burners is overkill.

Going for the 6600GT's as mainly a price issue. Most places I looked 6800 GT's were near 500 bucks screw that. 2 6600 GT's for under 400 If worse comes to worse I will wait til next year and replace with better technology that 6800 GT. 2 dvd burners mainly for the fact one is 20-30 bucks higher than a decent dvd rom. If one takes a crap I will not have to wait to order one and I can also burn on the fly. I invested in the 600 watt OCZ mainly because I do not know what technology has in store for us 2-3 years down the road. I know I feel pretty safe spending the extra few bucks now instead of having to replace the whole thing down the road.

Whatever floats your boat man..I am just offering a suggestion.

Ive made those sort of promises to myself in the past and it never pans out...6 months down the road you could upgrade to 6800 GTs however by then there will be alot of other new stuff...you start thinking about the 6800 GT or the newest card around...also you find there are better mobos out then and better ram...it dont end.
Ive learned, get a system now that is complete and as you want it because when its time to upgrade your going to want to upgrade it all.

PSU, case , everything....or at least that is how I am. I know my building habits enough by now that its a pretty safe bet that nothing in the PC I currently use will be used in my next PC.

BTW 2 DVD-RWs is just simply not needed ...most everyone rips a DVD to their HDD then burns it from their...one drive is plenty.

Buying a back-up DVD-RW is like buying a back-up video card. :)

Two DVD-+ RW's? Pointless. Wouldn't be able to burn two DVDs on the same IDE Channel.

Keep the PSU, you'll need it later.

Other than that....if SLI fits your taste then crunch on it.

I would have done it differently...but then again so would everyone else.

Have fun and enjoy it is the main thing! :)

Good luck!

it has been shown again and again that SLI 6600GT's are a waste of cash. you really should have gotten a single 6800GT, then gotten another later. :(

also overkill on the power supply. you blew about $100 there. :(

Anything SLI is a waste of cash. As 3DFX found out the hard way once the TNT/TNT2 came out. By this time next year Nvidia/ATI will both have single chip cards out that will blow even two 6800 GT's out of the water.

Anyways.....I dont understand the point of getting two DVD burners? Instead of the OCZ PowerStream 600W, look at something like the Antec Truepower 550 or the Neopower 480. Throw the memory out and pay just a little bit more for the Corsair 3200XLPT 1GB kit.

Those are my ideas but what do I know? You are getting all that for $1,145 and I just spent $1,086.00 for just a motherboard and cpu......
