You loaded this puppy up. Crazy. I wish I had the money like that.
I jumped in the recent deal with the IBM laptops from ebay. Its nice to have a laptop. YOu will love it. But the one you got and the one I have are more like desktop replacements not really portable light ones. :) enjoy

Not with normal apps and dev tools I use. :)

With games, yours will run 10X as fast or more.

I was planning to, talking to the lady though, it's a waste to spend $300 for 130mhz more. That's the only difference!

College, I work doing online messaging during the school so I will depend on the laptop if I travel to get work done at home during the winter/spring break also.

Basically I was tired of spending money every year on peripherals, I say this laptop is good 'nuff for 3 years worth of working and gaming with the games I play. Nothing seems appealing so far in the game world!

Nice lappy. You'll need an array of car batteries to run it though ;)

I can't imagine that having a battery life of more than 2hrs...

3 years my arse. :p No average AnandTecher would last with a hardware for more than 1 year.2 years for BX board users is already stretching. :)

The reason I'm spending only $1299 for mine is because I know I'll want a new one next year. So I'd rather spend $1299 instead of $2500~$3000 and save for a better bad-@$$ one next year.

FYI, my specs:

Sony VAIO FCG-FX20
Celeron 700
128MB RAM (getting 512MB from Crucial for $47 per 256MB stick)
15" XGA
15GB HD
Crappy i815EM graphics

$1299

Well I don't play FPS/3D games. AoE2 is as intense as gaming gets for me. :)

If I really wanted to do some serious gaming, I'd rather save up the $1800 and build a GeForce3 rig with 21" monitor. :)

Not trying to crap on your purchase plan, but that's what I'd do. Are you moving into a dorm?

I dont even have a lappy. But Ive got money to burn - if the price is right! I just bought a TV Tuner/ Personal VCR/ Capture card. I love it! The TV progam is your wallpaper if you want it to be....thats what I call an ACTIVE DESKTOP!

Not ordered yet. Doing that next week or mid-September.

Sonystyle.com. Configure it there and buy directly.

I didn't think that Celeron 700 -> P3 750 for $200 was worth it.
$300 for DVD-RW wasn't worth it either.
$500 for Celeron 700 15" XGA -> P3 850 15" SXGA+ was definitely not worth it, considering my tight budget. :)

I want SXGA+, though. Thought about going with Dell, but settled with Sony.

I definatley dont think you're crapping joohang, I'll be using this in an apartment (with a security cable ;)) but my room is pretty small and I know my 19" + Full tower + periphs would take up way too much room (plus what I said above)

Sonys are very nice for what you get, damn thin too!

MINIPCI 56K+10/100,Inspiron4000/8000 (313-9795)

Good call, most people are either too cheap, ignorant or clueless to get this. It frees up that external PCMIA (whatever it's called) slot.

Go DUCKS!

;)
