Just ordered my first iPod in 3 years

From Amazon. Total was 287.32 + no tax = $30 savings over Apple Store FTW!

I've been wanting one for a while and the 2nd gen release was excuse enough for me. Sold my iPod Video 5G and a few other things to fund this, so my out of pocket expense is < $100.

I'm hoping cases come out very soon for these suckers, don't want them scratched! I'm looking at a Bestskinever for the back and an iSkin for all around, but neither are released yet :-(

nice! the touch is absolutely the best gadget i've owned. get one of those screen protectors while you are at it. power support is the brand to go with.

Nice, I just bought my 16 gig blue nano while eating dinner. It should be a good replacement for my 1 gig first gen shuffle. And I haven't had an end cap for it since 2 months after i got it. Now to find an armband... or something.

You'll love it marketson. Of course it is a great mp3 player, awesome browser and has the abundance of sweet apps, but don't underestimate the power it has as a video/movie player. This, in my opinion, is it's greatest asset. Be sure to encode any movies/shows you have for it as you will be amazed at the quality. I recommend dvd shrink and handbrake. Great buy.

Nice deal on Amazon. Returned my 16GB from Apple that was $320 with taxes and am going to pick up a 32GB for $60 more on Amazon!

Hrm. They're estimating I'll get it 10/14 :-( Makes me wonder if I should cancel it and just go get it! $30 is not all that much in the long run...

Don't forget the gas you'll be spending. :Q

Can anyone help me understand the Ipod Touch vs iPhone? From what I understand the iPhone has everything the Touch has and more, including camera and phone. And the 8GB iPhone is cheaper than the Touch.

With the new version of the Touch, does it now have some features that are not in the iPhone? If not, why not buy an iPhone instead? Even if you don't use the phone part.

You're obviously forgetting about the contract you have sign your life away for the iphone, and of course the monthly fees. The new Touch has been updated with an external speaker and physical volume rocker. If you're going to get the Touch, definitely go for the 16/32gb.
I don't believe you can use the iphone if you don't activate the phone contract.

You will LOVE your new purchase. I just bought a 2G touch a week ago and I'm beginning to develop a borderline love affair with it.

Basically for an extra 50 bucks compared to a Nano, you get 90% of the capability of a netbook computer. The Safari browser works great and has no trouble displaying any web pages I use. I really believe for the "checking email and surfing web sites" demographic can get along just fine with this gadget, I know I do

i am planning to get a 16GB ipod touch myself once the new macbook pros are released in a few weeks.

congrats OP! im DEFINITELY sure you will love it! 🙂

Yeah, I ended up being close enough to the Apple store to justify stopping by to get one. EVERYWHERE (BB, CC, Target, even WALMART) were sold out in store. I put on a BSE, and It looks AMAZING. Haven't paid for any apps yet, just testing out some free ones. So far remote seems to be my favorite.

Anyone who is not sure, I recommend getting one!! It's great indeed.

Touch was my best purchase yet next to my Macbook Pro. Oh wait it came free =]. But seriously, I was like ehh after my first iPod (4G) but with the touch... WOW. I wish I had the 2G though. I envy my girlfriend's 2G touch but I guess my first gen is all right too.

agreed. i was never a fan of Apple products, but the Touch 2g has made me a firm believer. It is probably the best gadget i've ever bought; more so than the PS3 too. I surf the net while in bed.. how awesome is that?

you'll definitely want to get a case and protector for it.. i've noticed that the backside scratches pretty easily. I picked up the macally mcase from the ebay user below. he includes the screen protector with it. it's a PERFECT fit and highly recommended. case is good napa leather quality
