its not just the card you will have to worry about. the card runs atleast 25 degrees C hotter than a 7600gt. a 7600gt is already a pretty warm card. ALL your components will be affected.

Whatever man Heat of the card doesn't matter so much as net energy dissaption of the card. 32W is half as much as a 7600GT no matter how hot the actual card gets.

well 90 degees celcius is hot no matter how you look at it and that was on a stock 7600gs at 400/800. yours is gonna make toast at 500/900.

AkumaX, I am not too worried about it. The x1600xt is a different animal, with lot louder cooling solution. I guess we'll see when more benches come out. As long as it is even with the xt at the games it excels at and better at most other games where raw fill rate matters, I am fine with that.

As long as it plays guild wars full out, that is all I really care about right now

LOL, man. If it runs at 90C it doesn't matter a bit to me as long as it is within normal spec. Obviously it is, or they would be facing a massive number of failures on this line of cards. I don't stick my hand into my computer case a lot to see how hot everything is, and that is the only way it could possibly matter as long as it is actually dissapting almost no heat to the rest of the case.

Look at it this way. I could have a PD with massive cooling operating under load at a nice 40C. I could also have a T-bird Athlon idling at nearly 60C with a nice puny stock cooler. The PD is still going to a)require more power and b)dissapate more energy into the rest of the case that I will need more fans to remove.

Bottom line, temperature of individual components means basically nothing as long as it is within its normal operational envelope. End of story.

*Besides that, it is only some of the card operating at that temp, not the entire thing. On a normal 7600GT, these parts are hitting what, nearly 65C anyway with active cooling? Passively cooling always will result in high temps. Heck, I could burn my hand extremely quikcly on a passively cooled GF3 Ti200 or a 233 Pentium2, but those both obviously last forever.

You are reading the graph totally wrong. The GPU ISNT at 90C at load, the power transistors are.

They dont mention if its load or at idle but i would think that the passively cooling on the reference 7600GS boards NV showed indicates that the GS doesnt overheat.

i can read. i was looking at the hottest temps. no other video card is anywhere near that hot no matter what part you are looking at. if you use some common sense then you would know those temps are under load not idle. again those are the highest temps i have ever seen for any video card. the one he is getting is overclocked so it will be even hotter.
