Hey guys, I'm jumping with joy. I FINALLY ordered the parts for my new rig today. This will be my first build as well.

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego Core
XP-90 w/ Panaflo L1A
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) EL Platinum PC3200 DDR400
Sapphire X300 SE 128MB PCIe Express (Temporary until 7800GTX arrives)
WD Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM SATA
LiteOn DVD/CDRW Combo
Thermaltake Tsunami
Antec TP 2.0 550w

The 7800GTX KO Edition will be arriving shortly as soon as I get some more money.

Anyways, I am so happy! How much performance increase will I see from my old rig when everything is here (including 7800GTX)?

Old Rig:

P4 Willamette 1.5GHz
512MB PC133
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB running at 4x AGP
WD 40GB IDE HDD
 
You'll have worse performance with that x300 (as I'm sure you know) but as soon as your 7800gtx comes in, your old rig will barely even be comparable.
 
That's a cool setup - very similar to the one i'm doing right now (just waiting for my mobo from newegg, hehe).

I would have gotten a cheapo nvidia card if I were waiting for the 7800 to save some hassle, but that's just me.
 
Yeah, but the cheapest card I could find that would actually let me temproarily run modern games was the X300. So no biggie, I'll probably do a reformat anyways.
