I don't know if it's the antenna itself - like I said, I generally get very good reception. It's more the placement of the antenna within the phone. I can see how maybe someone with large hands would have more of an issue than I'm having.Yep, as I suspected originally, it's an antenna issue, no one has had these kind of problems for years, I remember when reviews had RF sensitivity values, and how Nokia was usually the best, and I can imagine HTC not testing with human hands to discover this is an issue...
Google has wads of $, and to keep their credibility, they really need to issue a recall and replace these phones with a better antenna...
It's certainly a design flaw, and HTC is stupid for including it (particularly given similar issues that had been reported when the iPhone 3G was released), but I really doubt they'll issue a recall - even if I completely wrap my hands around the phone, I don't lose EDGE coverage. Depending on coverage area and phone usage, many people will never even realize there is an issue. I know I didn't notice until it was pointed out, and I've used 3G data quite a bit. Maybe there's a software tweak that will help.
