AT&T probably won't unlock it for you, but unlocking the HTC One is ~$3.50 on eBay. No problem.

Be careful though and you might want to read the slickdeals thread posted in the OP as people have been getting inconsistent experiences when they're trying to cancel. Canceling within 3 days is legit, and it's in the rules, but you might have to fight a little bit if you're unlucky enough to get a clueless (or overzealous) CS person (in store or on the phone). So just be aware that there might be a little hassle coming with it (or not).

I think it is safe to assume that by tomorrow all of the CS reps will be aware of this loophole. Order today with overnight shipping if you still want to try it.

Also I unlocked my GS4 in 5 minutes using a few quick steps on XDA devs in the debug menu. Not sure if the One has such an easy unlock though.

No such easy way for the One, but like I said, it's cheap on eBay.

You're right though. This is already day two and the only reason why they haven't caught on completely is because it's the weekend. Tonight is your last chance for this. Some people who opted to have the phone shipped already reported having their orders cancelled.

Well I put in an order for the HTC One. Shame this deal wouldn't work on the 64GB model.

But I think the chances of this shipping are pretty slim anyway.

They fixed the loophole.
I had it at 1/2 price earlier today but had to rush out to do something.
Had they have the pick up option, I would have placed an order.
Now its no longer at 1/2 price although it probably wouldn't have shipped out anyway.

I just tested it and it's still working for me. It won't show the 50% discount until it's in the cart and you add the data plan. Also it only works on phones that have a $99 to $199 contract price (even if we are doing the month to month option).

Though yeah, I imagine my phone has a snowballs chance in hell of shipping. This has been going on all weekend and I imagine Monday morning someone is going to give the order to kill all orders that haven't shipped yet.

I got an email today about my "new" plan and it hasn't been canceled yet so I'm hoping this still goes through. I decided just to pick up an iphone 5, I'm probably just going to sell it anyways so that seemed like the best option.

Mine didn't ship. I'm expecting the cancellation email any moment since apparently AT&T has started canceling orders.

Thanks for the heads up.

I did the don't take advantage of a loophole deal tho.

I just added 2 lines to my data share plan as they had a zero activation fee going this route....The normal $36 fee for each device sucks!

I purchased a Samsung S4 Active(Dive Blue) as it seems like it'll be easy enough to sell for cost plus activation fee. Figure break even or slight profit ???

The S4 got me the Galaxy Note 8 LTE that I wanted for $199 :)

Galaxy Note 8 doesn't have the greatest specs compared to other modern tablets but figure it's good bang for the buck with 24/7 data access. The $10 a month fee is worth the no hassle of tethering with my phone.

I got a $25 instant credit for some unknown reason? The order page also stated I'd get a $100 credit to my account within 30days....Guessing these were a Premier account benefit?

Wound up paying $362.59 shipped after taxes.

Got a shipment notification today, now I just need to decide whether to use this new phone or just sell it brand new for the extra bit of profit.

I got an email that my order was backordered. Then immediately after it AT&T sends me this stupid email claiming I canceled my order. Haha. I checked SlickDeals and apparently there are others getting the same lame email claiming the customers are canceling their own orders when they aren't.

I don't mind being canceled, because I realize this isn't what AT&T intended. But don't lie and say I canceled the order. Shesh. :)

It seems the price on the GS4 has reduced considerably. I guess it's buying season now before the iPhone 6/Samsung Galaxy Note 3 get released.

Seems like AT&T told FedEx to return package to sender. Mine was redirected back when it was out for delivery :(

I apologize. Its a repetitive (and therefore famous) scene in the TV show Get Smart. The character on the left is saying "Missed by THAT MUCH." I should have included the quote.

Ah okay. Haha I knew to begin with that the order may very well get cancelled, I just didn't realize that AT&T is so anal to the point of recalling shipped orders.
