Just ordered a 9300.....

Thanks to the regulars here for pointing me to the coupon deal. I was able to put together a system with much better specs than my budget previously allowed.
I'm excited about the 17" WUXGA screen and the native 1900x1200. I was looking at a 15.4 before this and figured the 17 was out of my league. The go6800 is a big step up from the RM9700 I was going to get.
I had to settle for 512k of ram because Dells is SO expensive. $250 for 1024 (2x512)
I figure it's my first upgrade. I saw a 1x1024 Dell brand for 140 using pricewatch.

Any thoughts from other 1900x1200 users out there?

Anyway this is my first notebook and all the posts and guides here helped a lot. Thanks people.

Congratulations. I own 2 different Inspiron 9300's and they are AWESOME. Enjoy!

P.S. the LCD is definitely awesome. I'm not a gamer but I love it nonetheless 😀

Thanks for the link. I guess I'll just have to see how I like the rez. I played with a Sony Vaio at Best Buy that had a 17" Wuxga and it seemed pretty sweet. I do a little in excel and word at work but not for long periods of time. I play a lot of WOW and I'm looking forward to trying it in widescreen. I'll have to go with a lower resolution for that one though.

I got the wxga+ screen. My friend has a 1900x1200 and it looks so tiny when he has a web page up. I would have issues reading that. I bought a 2 1gig sticks on newegg. Transcend brand haven't had any issues and it was only ~ 105$. Not sure how WOW is compared to Battlefield 2 but I can run BF2 at maxed detail with 4x AA@1440x900 and it is perfect.

wOss- I launched IE on the Vaio at Best Buy and changed it to the largest font size and it looked very nice to me. The default font size in IE would get difficult. As soon as I recover from this expenditure (and the $1400 canoe we just bought) I'm gonna get 2x 1gb of ram.

Awesome! I just ordered mine a couple of days ago. I got the 1.86 P-M and just left it at 256MB of RAM and ordered a 1 gig stick of OCZ memory. I didn't think to research this before, but does anyone know if the OCZ will work with the i9300? I'll find out soon enough. Have fun 🙂

This is true, but let me just say I'm not impressed with dual channel performance enough to waste using two slots for 512MB sticks; at this point I'm going to recommend getting a 1GB stick

A processor with a 533MHz bus and 533MHz ram is not going to see a difference if you make it dual channel (effective 1066MHz bus). Unless you're running integrated graphics. I have seen some numbers of dual channel vs. non-dual channel for this computer and there's no difference. I'll look for the link 🙂
