As you know, I got a job working in a real estate office. (Which I very much enjoy.) Relying on my grandmother to let my mom use her car to get me to and from work and to and from the store and to and from...(you get the idea) has been far from enjoyable. (Though I appreciated that she loaned us the car when we needed it.) I wanted needed freedom.
Today...today was a very happy day. I finally got a car. It's an older car, but it's new to me. It runs well and it belonged to a little old lady and has 77,000 original miles on it. It's a 1989 Eagle Summit.
Many people, I'm sure, take shuffling themself to and from work or to the store or to go hang out with friends, for granted. I know I used to. However, I no longer do. I was so unbelievably happy that it brought me to tears.
Slowly, but surely, I'm gaining back my independence. What a wonderful feeling it is.
(Reposted to my Myspace--yeah I have one of those and probably my forums and whatnot.
