BOOM

In the past these eggs have always blown up within the microwave cooker, and often flipped it. I'd always have to poke them with a fork (barely opening it, after first taking it out of the microwave), and often have them pop them, to avoid my egg sandwhich blowing up in my face. This, however, is quite a mess. I am now going to cook them at 6 power only :)

careful. i read a news article local around here about someone getting severe injuries because he heated a hard boiled egg in the microwave, only to have it explode upon biting into it. anyone know why eggs explode in the microwave? air pressure?

It's because the yoke simply builds up pressure inside from the heat (perhaps boils) and has no outlet. Even at 6 my new eggs (just cooked) slightly popped too much. I think in the future I'll need to damn near decimate the yoke prior to insertion, so as to allow pressure outlets.

Why the hell anyone would cook eggs in the micro is beyond me. What's next? Sausage fest?

Microwaved eggs come out so fluffy! :D

Get an egg, crack it in bowl, take out the nastiness with a fork, beat, add a bit of water, beat again, nuke it for 60 seconds, sprinkle with a bit of black pepper and oregano. These are the yummiest.

Put into a bowl I suppose that I could then put that "egg patty" on some toast :)

Have some fun with it, place the egg in a heavy coffee cup and fill it with water, then nuke it, stand back !

To heat them; why else?

pot of warm water will do the same thing
In 1:20 from start to scratch? No.

Neither will a microwave do it in 1:20....if you include the cleanup time. :D;)

btw great sig Skoorb, who said that?

I read it on somebody's thread about the "ultimate flame". I was taken aback by it, and I still am!

Ah I see it at: http://www.ultimateflame.com/
That sure is a damn good flame.

As for eggs, best eggs are poached eggs. Try that in a microwave!. You heat up a pot of water, put some vinegar in it (white vinegar, just a spoonful) The vinegar prevents the egg white from running all over the place. You bring the water/vinegar to a boil, then crack the eggs and put them into the water, simmer them until the center is just soft, then dry them on a paper towel. put them on toast with a mustard and mayo mixture. yumm!

this is similar to eggs benedict btw, sans a few ingredients like truffles and such.

there is a certain thing called "timing" that I like to use whenever I cook my meals. I time it so that the food will be ready when I am ready to eat.

Poached eggs are devine. I've not had one in many years. Considering that I'm thoroughly unable to fry an egg and keep its center intact, I know I'd be in over my head trying to poach any :(

I got home from work and was ready to eat immediately. The only "timing" I did was made sure that the 2-3 min required for toasting of bread was begun first!

all you need for frying an egg is a good nonstick pan. heat pan pretty hot. add oil. let oil heat up. crack egg in. here is the key. You don't have to flip to cook yoke. Just turn heat down to low and cover the pan.

When is the world going to recognize that a microwave is the proper way to cook eggs? Perfect, fluffy, and 90 seconds... and if you cook them in a bowl with a little cooking spray there is almost zero cleanup.

My weapon of choice...

Fresh Lenders bagel, lightly toasted.
2 Eggs, scrambled, microwaved.
Slice of american cheese.
Couple slices of thinly shaved honey ham.
