Just noticed my Epox 8RDA+ has some buldging caps and one is barely leaking. This really blows. I am suprised it hasnt quick working yet. Is it safe to run it with these like this? Hows Epox's RMA service? Do I have to show proof of purchase?

Also is it fairly quick? This is my only rig at the moment. I was saving for some modding stuff but I guess I will use my paypal to get a new board.

I just hope it lasts till then. To top it off I have a Maxtor 80gb that makes some weird noise sometimes while its working hard. Thats about $20 bucks in shipping these pieces of garbage back. Whats chances of Epox sending me a better/newer Nforce 2 board?

I don't think I would continue to run it in it's current state.

Epox RMA service was very good for me on my 8RDA3+.

no proof of purchase was needed, turn around was 2 weeks for me.

Go the the Epox web site and register your board by serial #, then submit a request for RMA describing the problem, I had my RMA number the next day.

I was very pleased with the service I got from Epox...I was not even the original owner of the board and I told them that. NO CHARGE for the repair/replacement other than the cost of shipping the board to them.

Well this is my only PC. What would/could it do if I continue to run it like this? I'm ordering a new mobo this weekend.

BTW what causes the caps to do this? I noticed they ain't swelled much just leaking orange color stuff. Well not dripping its hardend it looks.

a parts vendor sold a bunch of defective caps to several mobo manfs some time back. Epox,Abit,MSI all have had some problems with these parts. They are all off the market by now and out of the supply chain. The problem didn't show up till the parts were in use for some time.

If you are ordering a new mobo right away, just keep using it for a while, then RMA after you get your new one.
