Just me? I'm more excited about the 1070 release...

What's not to like? $379 MSRP for AIB with 980ti performance. This should also force 980ti prices to drop once it hits shelves also.

That's quite normal. Same applied for the 970 🙂

Titan X performance for 379$ with 8GB, 150W and fully VR ready in the high end. What's not to like.

I'd be more in line for a 1070 myself, if I were to upgrade.

If nothing else things will change a bit soon, again.

yes, with hope that 970 drops in price

The 970 is discontinued and the 1070 is its direct replacement, so I would expect the 970 to simply fade away with no further price drops. However the price of the 1070 itself needs to drop. It's completely absurd at the moment, nearly $600 for the 1070 FE here in Sweden.

While it's decent value compared to the 980 Ti and Titan X (essentially Titan X performance for the price of the 980 Ti), you have to keep in mind that this is the mid-range version of Pascal, a cut-down version of the already cut-down 1080. The 970 launched at $329. With some competition later this year, the 1070 should drop to a similar level.

I'm more interested in the 1070 too. IN fact, I'm curious about what might come at even lower price points. 1050 for $250?

X70 card is always better than X80 card
GTX670 was 20% faster than GTX580.In today perspective it is like GTX670 was 20% faster than TITANX(28% this gigabyte GTX670) and cost only 400USD.On top of that aftermarket GTX670=GTX680 and after you OC 670 you was 10-15% above GTX680.
GTX1070 is worst x70 card ever made, but still better than 1080 in price/perf.It is shame, that GTX1070 cant reach to GTX1080 performance even after OC.

They have dropped to high $200s. It will take a bit to clear the existing inventory; the best way to do so is to lower the price 😀

You still can see lots of previous gen high end cards being for sale new.

I haven't looked at many of the review, but Hexus added 220MHz to their 1070 by maxing the power target and Guru3D got 200MHz, which is a little disappointing given the extra thermal headroom it should have.
Hopefully AIB cards arrive shortly or modded BIOS unlock a little more potential in the chip.

Except the 580 that the 670 was faster than, was not it's generation's equivalent of 980 Ti or Titan X.

The 1070 is not only faster than the 980, but faster than the 980 Ti, and trades blows with the Titan X.

The 970 traded blows with the 780 Ti, and was very marginally slower at higher resolutions.

I'd hardly say it is fair to call the GTX 1070 the worst x70 card yet, based on the VERY limited overclocking data with the STOCK COOLER.

i STILL dont care, because i play on 1080 and my 770 isn't bothered. another couple of generations before i upgrade.
😛

I paid $329 for my 770 and now will spend $50-$75 more for a card that is arguably 2.5 times better and more efficient and its the worse 70 card ever. Well I guess it's winning the superbowl by one point and being the worse win ever. Its amazing how we as humans process information so differently.

I game on 1080p and I need all my games to play at a minim of 60FPS so I'm looking forward to a GTX 1070 going from a GTX 970.

Yep, I am too. Love my coil whining 970 ACX2.0 that is more like an ACX1.5 and 4gb that is more like 3.5gb...

I don't really need a new card but want to change anyways 😛

Know any games that can use up to 4GB? I've tried out SOM, and it's smooth as butter while using up to 4GB. I don't have any coil whine here, and my card boosts to 1418MHz and stays there out of the box. I'll probably eventually buy a 1070, but the 970 is holding up quite well in the games I play.

I have the EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ also they have a better phase then the SC so you don't have coil whine.

I have the exact same card, SSC ACX2.0...and I have the whine. Mind you, it's getting away with time and it's less audible now then it was on release day.

Agreed! The 980's should have dropped into the low $3xx.- range already. Suppliers and retailers are going to get stuck with a bunch of cards collecting dust.

That's assuming the aftermarket and suppliers don't price the 1070 above msrp......

Nope GTX580 was TITANX

I really don't think that is a fair comparison at all

1) It launched at $500 not $1000
2) It was designed from the start as a gaming card...not a professional card

Just because it was the top of the line FERMI card at the time does not make it equivalent to the Titan X.

I'd say with the Titan and its successors Nvidia actually added a rung above the x80 card instead of just bumping the other cards down a notch.

However you classify it, you have been comparing benchmarks run with full fledged aftermarket cards with full fledged drivers and aftermarket coolers from previous generations to a yet unreleased 1070 with a reference design and cooler for overclocking potential.

Way too early to start spouting nonsense about this card being the worst x70 card ever.

I am more excited about the 1070 than the 1080 b/c I can't/won't spend $600 or more on a video card.

Unsure whether to tip my hat towards or shake my head at those who will.
