Just lost my job

my school ran out of work study money and i just lost my job. i have a loan out that i have been paying for and now my last resort is to work at burger king. i got an interview today, man it sucks, i use to see my boyfriend on weekends but i won't be able to cause i'll be stuck at burger king. what's worst than burger king? tell me about a job you lost and what happened.

I'm too 1337 to work😉
I'm still working on a "big money plan"

edit: hope somethin' works out for you

I can't comment on working for BK, but I'm 🙁 to hear you lost your job 🙁

that sucks
Go check your local hospitol. At mine, you can work the kitchen for 11$ a hour. You just deliver food to patients, and clean up dirty dishes.

So, what's your problem with working at Burger King or any other entry level job. When you need money you take what you can get. I respect anyone who supports themself no matter what the job.

BTW, sorry you can't get a part time job as a CEO.

I suggest asking the internet for handouts.

I agree - if it worked for guys I would be doing it! Take advantage of the opportunity since you're a girl! 🙂

Sorry to hear that you lost your job 🙁 Hopefully the Burger King gig will not last too long (not that there is anything wrong with working at BK). Good luck.

Cheers,
Aquaman

get a temp job (litigation-related is pretty hot if i remember) instead of burger king....the pay will be better and it's usually 9-5 M-F.

I have:

Run a cash register for Walgreen's and Target
Worked as a veterinary assistant
Managed an after-school care program at a church kindergarten
Bathed dogs for a groomer
Cleaned houses
Worked as a receptionist for an orchestra
Floor guard at a skating rink

It's amazing what you can find to do, but lots of times you have to be willing to get dirty. Still, I think the job I hated the most was Bank Teller. I swear, I have seen bills that looked and smelled like someone used them for toilet paper... money is nasty.

Exactly. Go to a temp agency, they will find you something, and I'm sure it would be a lot better paying, and better hours, than BK. My company hires temps all the time, and a lot of them end up staying on full time if it works out. It won't hurt to go to a temp agency. Anyhow, sorry about being laid off, and you have my respect for trying to make ends meet any way that you have to.

Yes, Ill have a BK Double, large fries and some onion rings please 🙂

At least you do work, theres a lot of lazy people out there who wont for some reason or other.

Get at job a mortgage company. Youll work the rest of your life.

Aaaaaw! Sorry about your situation, Diandra016! I guess Burger King is better than nothing. But I do hope that your prospect gets better. Disappointments tend to be blessings in disguise, so keep your chin up!

Good luck landing another job. You definitely have our respect for work ethic; hopefully you can find something more appropriate for your career path.

LOL Huey that was wrong, very wrong. But right in a way, "working the streets" would be worse then working for BK.

If you're in college, see if they have a student work center somewhere. A lot of times you can get into a sweet internship that way or possibly be placed somewhere temporarily. Keep in mind that Xmas help should be hiring soon and you might be able to jump on somewhere for extra green. Keep your chin up and always remember to aim high when you're job hunting. Market yourself well and you'll find something great.

I've worked for the Tennessee Dept of Labor as a Computer/Network Tech, I've worked for the Welfare to Work program as a computer skills instructor, I've worked for Olan Mills, Inc's Corp Headquarters, and now I'm a Sys Admin. I'm 22 and still taking classes. Just keep the ball rolling and everything will work out. 😀

As long as you get a job and it's decent, there's nothing anyone can comment on you. People got to do what they got to do to survive and working at BK is one of them. I, for one, work in the dining hall of my Uni. I don't complain about it even though some of my friends tend to look down on what I do, I actually like it in there. It does not get me dirty and what not. On the other hand, I get to eat for free and sit there do nothing, yet getting paid.

All in all, do whatever it takes to survive. But do it right. 🙂

Reading through these replys, I am forced to think about how they would differ if the person losing their job was a guy...
