Just leased a new minivan

we bought the '11 odyssey for my wife to cart around the kids. i refused to buy a minivan for the longest time but finally gave in. we got the EX-L trim and its pretty nice. one good thing i like is the v6 motor takes regular gas, instead of requiring premium like the other vans

I don't know about now, but all the minivans my parents had before used regular gas. I can't think of one good reason for a minivan to need anything more than that.

Well the sienna requires premium. The Nissan van wasn't out yet but I imagine the motor is a QV variety so that would require premium as well. we didn't consider the American offerings so the Honda was the most economical choice for us.
 
My wife just got an SUV, and she wants a minivan in the garage at some point, so I think that what my next vehicle will be. As long as it has somewhat decent acceleration, I'm ok with it.

Plus it's roomy enough to do hookers and blow in the back.
 
Bought my wife an 08 T&C (back in 2008) and it has been great. Brakes wore out a bit fast and we had them replaced. Chrysler sent a letter (not a recall) and owned up to undersizing the brakes on it and paid for the work minus a $50 deductible.

All in all, it's great for us. As the OP said, the dual dvd screens are perfect for the kids. The middle seats stow-and-go and the back seats fold flat when you need it. Remote start, side and rear opening doors/hatch via remote. Unbelievably convenient for our needs.

Sienna doesn't doesn't take premium. It does however take synthetic oil. These latest rounds of minivans are crazy. The HP these things crank out is nuts. Dropping the hammer on my Sienna will pin you to the seat. It's as fast, if not faster than a lot of "sport" compacts. LOL.

I wish we had bought a minivan back in 08 rather than our Highlander. Since then, we now have two kids, a dog, and a pony (great dane). I hated the idea of even considering a minivan back then, but it is a tremendous pain in the ass trying to travel anywhere - it's always a decision between dog or stroller (as both will not fit), or a fight to pack in if another adult besides wife and I try to tag along.

At this point, I'm viewing a minivan as a necessary evil which I don't yet have.
 
I still have yet to fully understand the utter hatred and disdain people have for the poor minivan.

Is it the look of the things or underlying lifestyle acceptance that you are now "a family person".

It's absolutely amazing how upset people get over the damn things.

I can take pics of our 2008 when the wife gets home. No internal trim or headliner issues. It'll be 3 yrs old on July 5.
