Just learned that laser toner is not a liquid

Replenished the ink on my printer, and was surprised that when I shook the ink up in the bottle, black powder went all over the place. It is actually pretty neat, very very finely cut(?). Plus it only cost me $15 for the whole thing, saved about $35!

I feel like I have some in my nose though so I keep blowing out.

Laser toner is a carcinogen. Getting exposed one time won't hurt you but it is nasty to get into your lungs.

Laser printers are generally much larger than inkjets, quieter in use, much faster, and produce "hotter" paper than inkjets (i.e. the paper will actually be warm).

I did know that much 😀

It is laser, no need to check.

Never heard of laser ink.

I've heard of dry ink which is essentially toner. The powder is extremely fine and can be used for scrimshaw if one wants.

This is gonna blow your mind then - the "toner" actually gets melted to the page. But NOT by the laser. The laser doesn't even TOUCH the paper!!!!!!

OP is the first person I have ever heard say "laser ink". Everyone else refers to it as laser toner, because toner is not ink.
Its toner.

Well good for you. Got a toner kit and knew how to use it too, huh. Had a HP laserjet 5L+extra cartridge given to me, good to get 🙂 1500 pages rather then the 😱 200 off an inkjet refill.

Maybe that was the problem...😛 I don't imagine an inkjet refill would provide NEARLY as many pages in a laser printer as a toner cartridge would...😛

I'm STUNNED to read that on a computer-geek forum, someone doesn't know the difference between toner and ink...nor what kind of printer they have.

I can just imagine when the power came out of the cartridge...

"The fucking fucker....they fucked me. The ink is all dried up!!"

Tell that to LL Cool J.

Dr. Gregory House determined that the patient was trying to kill himself by ingesting toner so he tricked him into drinking alcohol to save his life (it bonds with it and gets urinated away).

Ironically, they call it "copier fluid" in that episode synopsis. IIRC, it was only a liquid because he added it to a liquid. I guess they called it that in the show because if you Google-search for "Copier Fluid" and all you find are page after page of references to that episode. Made up?

Seriously though... who doesn't know that toner is a powder?

There was a time before laser printers / copiers dude.

You remember those ugly fucking purple copies you had in school? (assuming you're not too young...)
