What's the cost of tracking? $0.50? And you didn't do it just because he wouldn't pay for it?

Confirmation is a seller's responsiblity so the buyer can't pwn3d you. Looks like you cheap out and got pwn3d by either postal service (doubt it) or some scamming buyer (very likely). Unless you have proof of shipment, you just got pwn3d.

Tracking and Confirmation are different.

Tracking
Express Mail®
Global Express Guaranteed®
Global Express Mail®

Confirming
Delivery Confirmation?
Signature Confirmation?
Certified Mail?
Registered Mail?

Proof of Delivery
Express Mail®
Signature Confirmation?
Return Receipt (Electronic)

same thing happened to me. sold an electronic drumkit for $700. buyer paid, I shipped (only I shipped WITH tracking). 3 months later my paypal account is frozen. I email them to find out why. apparently she filed a chargeback w/ her credit card company saying she never got it. paypal said there's nothing THEY could do about it even though i could provide a UPS tracking number that says delivered and signed by someone w/ the same last name as the buyer. from then on, i knew to never accept paypal unless it was absolutely necessary. even then, i don't accept credit card payments through paypal. i have a passionate hate for that company.

How long has it been since you shipped it? Parcel Post can be slow as fvck. The last package I sent Parcel Post took a week and a half to go from NC to VA. Now THAT is retarded.

Damn, that's some seriously messed up shed. Well you can't do anything about it, they're the only business in town. PayPal = eBay. eBay = PayPal. Call the police?!

Yeah, I take cash (direct bank transfer) only, too many scammers out there.

oh, I thought you were gonna say "Buy DVD's from Singapore for $5, then dispute them saying they're illegally duplicated and get for $5 buck back"

A sister in law told me that she does this.

Unless you can prove otherwise you will have to either replace the item you sold or reimburse them their money.

Never give a buyer at Ebay the option to select the type of shipping. They'll almost always take the cheapest one possible and not select any tracking to save themselves money. That denies you the methods to track the package.

Except for really cheap items I always ship priority with DC or Fedex on Ebay. Even when I ship cheap items they're sent parcel post with delivey confirmation. I don't give them the option to select any other type of shipping. I just state what the shipping method will be and the cost. Once they submit their bid they have agreed to those terms.

If you purchase your postage online at the USPS site you can get delivery confirmation at no cost when you ship priority.
