Just killed mouse with glue trap and PETA says I'm inhumane

What would you do with caught mouse in glue?

  • I'd kill it just like you did

  • I'd let it suffer in glue

  • I'd let it free

  • Who cares, there are real problems in world

I tried glue traps once. Never again. It is a grossly inhumane way to kill a mouse. There are better mouse traps.

actually the reason i hear they are considered cruel, is cause the mice eat through their limbs to try and free themselves.... they dont go hungry...
Sadly a lot of animals do this. Those typical spring traps you see in cartoons don't work very well because animals all tend to bite their own legs off.

Man up and get a spring loaded mouse trap that snaps their spine.
Because having a broken spine doesn't hurt at all. It's so painless that humans with broken spines just walk it off. Oh wait, no they don't.

Glue or poison is somewhat inhumane, as the rodent will take some time to die.
Spring trap or a nice big cat is much better.

There's a pretty good site for traps here

http://cfhs.ca/wild/types_of_traps/

But, it's Canadian, so will probably upset some bylaw or rule you have for traps.

What I don't understand though, is you have some pretty lenient firearms laws in America, surely a few 50 calibre rounds fired off in the general direction of the sound of the mouse scuttling around would have solved the problem equally well?

Glue traps are fine. They're better than having a poisoned mouse die behind your walls, and nobody cares about mice suffering.

Good justification for getting a cat. But you better not get one of those lazy cats that won't do shit even if a mouse walks by right in front of it.

I agree with your sentiment, but really.. I'm not sure if a cat kills a mouse anymore humanely than a glue trap does. 😉 😀

So I've been thinking about this.... how about a glue trap that is baited with an especially poisoned piece of cheese, one that is expected to kill the mouse within minutes or even seconds. The glue is simply to keep the death where you expect it to be.

Thoughts?

I do think glue traps are pretty inhumane. But I found mint will keep them away. I had one making nests in my glove compartment. I was thinkign of putting a srping trap in there but didnt want it getting a leg caught and then having to deal with killing it myself. So I read up on how to keep mice away. They apparently dislike the scent of mint. So I put a little toothpaste on a napkin and put it in the glove compartment. Never came back. If you gown mint around your house they stay away.

We tried glue traps before and all we manage to get was the Jack Russell.

We use 2 cats now. It's far more effective.
As far as I am concerned, I don't care HOW you eliminate your vermin, just kill it and be done with it.
It's scary to read all the PETA inspired comments in here about humane/inhumane ways to get rid of pest. Do you people look for humane ways to eliminate cockroaches? Is swatting a fly cruel?
How about fly traps?

:\

And that PETA web site is cruel. It uses inhumanly small fonts. The pain, OMG!!!

you've clearly never seen one... it crushes them, if it gets them in the neck its instant or close to it, anywhere else its such a traumatic injury that breathing is impossible, hell the heart probably gets squashed.

I kill the mousey by grabbing it by it's head or tail and repeatedly throwing it against a wall. Then if it moves I jump on it over and over stopping to watch it. Once it stops moving I usually bat it around with my feet awhile and hope nobody takes it away from me. Then I eat half of it and leave the other half in someone's shoes.

If it's a really tough mouse, I'll rest by putting my feet crossed on top of it while I savor the moment..
