just installed XP, no sound

ok I just installed XP and now I got no sound. using an aureal vortex2 sq2500 sound card. device manager says everythings ok. what am i doing wrong here?

Did you upgrade or a full install?
Earlier versions of Aureal drivers are not compatiable with XP.

More details on your hardware might help.

did a format and full install. im not trying to use drivers of my own. XP installed its own 'aureal' drivers according to device manager.

i have no volume control either. its totally missing from my computer. whats going on?

Remove Window's driver and try installing the offical drivers from the manufactor's website.

just figured out that my sound card is on the same IRQ (10) as my vid card. could that be causing this? if so, how do i change IRQ's??

IRQs are supposed to be shared in XP - but there are always exceptions. Try your sound card in a different PCI slot that is not paired with your AGP slot.

u can find ur volume control when u go to control panel then multimedia and chcek the box that says show volume control in taskbar
