I just installed my old copy of windows 2k on my moms pc which is an NEC Z1 Pentium 3 450mhz w/ 128mb of ram. I figure its better than Windows 98 and ME so I gave it a shot, Everything works great in 2k but when it comes time to shut down it takes forever then as soon as everything gets ready to shut off it prompts me with "You may now shut down your PC" the hard drive powers down and goes to like a suspend mode but it says that message. Now its not an AT PSU its has an ATX power supply and never did this in windows 98.
When I looked at the system settings it says it was running an x86 processor with stepping 3 or something. Is that computer just so old that it can't support windows 2k? Should I just go back and install windows 98?
