I'm running an ABIT IP35 Pro mobo. Could the mobo be giving me the wrong temps? I'm going to flash the BIOS and see if that changes anything.

Also, I'm using the Intel HSF with the Intel Thermal paste.

I'm trying to flash the BIOS. I don't have any way to power my floppy. Can I flash the BIOS from a flash drive? How do I do it?

It's a G0 stepping. Vcore is at 1.25.

CPU Operating Speed is 2399(266)

The heatsink doesn't feel hot. I'm wondering if my BIOS need to be updated.

I don't know how to update them without a floppy and my PS doesn't have a cable to power my floppy!!

Temp is at idle. I haven't even installed my OS yet. I just got into the BIOS and the first thing I checked was the CPU Temp.

You guys were right on the money! I didn't have the heatsink mounted properly. I replaced the Intel thermal compound with some AS5 and it's down to 40C. Is that a normal temp for my CPU? My room is a little on the warm side.

BTW, I do not like the way these new Intel heatsinks mount to the mobo. There's really nothing to guide the heatsink so it does on perfectly straight. The little push things really suck. It's hard to tell if they're in all the way. I think I'm going to go with an after market HSF.

40c idle sounds about right for stock cooler. The real test is under load... Can it stabalize the temperatures with 30 minutes or Prime 95 on all four threads? That would be the real test... Also, keep in mind ambient temperatures play a crucial role in cooling... If your room is 85F+ you are going to have a difficult time cooling that thing, aftermarket or otherwise.
