Okay, I just replaced my old mobo that died last week along with a PSU and I installed all my drives and CPU and turn on my PC and the CPU fan spins for 3secs then shut off. I see the bios screen and stuff. But, I'm scared to turn on my computer for fear that my CPU will get fried because the fan isn't spinning. Anyone have any suggestions. I had a nullthread last week here for reference for the new PSU...

if its the same thing that happened to me, its an easy solution: make sure both power connectors are plugged into the motherboard. i dont know the names of them, but there is one big thin rectangular one, and another one that is more square shaped and smaller. i had forgotten to plug in the smaller one and everything was working except the cpu fan. once i plugged it in, the fan worked.

I got it to work by plugging in to another connector. But, now I can't get it to boot to disc and other than the Power Led and Power header I don't know where any other headers are. I got it to boot from CD once but then my scratchy XP disc stalled at starting windows. I need to install XP. It's a cheap OEM mobo I bought since it's hard to find sockety 754 mobo's...

It's FIC K8M Socket 754 DDR ATHLON 64 MOTHERBOARD w/ eMachines bios...

It says press F10 for boot menu but nothing happens any more. It goes to REaltek RTL8139(X)8130/810X Boot Agent and says press Shift-F10 to configure and does nothing.

Also when I press F2 to access the bios it takes a while and sometimes it doesn't even work.
What is going on?

3. Move CLR_CMOS jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3
4. Press Power button a few times to discharge capacitors
