Pretty sure it's not normal. Monitor looks fine (Soyo 24"), but sometimes it goes to black and comes right back. I thought it might be a driver issue, but I went to the Vistiontek site yesterday to download a new one. (I have a Visiontek Radeon 9600XT). I have my resolution set to 1920 x 1200 btw.

UM ... have you checked to make sure the cords are all connected tight?
If they are you may need to get a new DVI-d cable (I assume you are using a dvi-D connection?)

How wouldn't they be connected right? Yes I'm using DVI. The way it blinks is like the monitor blinks while installing windows and the video drivers load.

Tight, not right.

sounds like you might have a bad dvi-cable

but beyond that... I have no clue

Hmm, that sounds normal to me. If it continued doing that after windows was installed. That's a concern. Maybe that's what you mean. mmc4587 asked have you checked if the cords are all connected Tight, not right. check em to make sure there's no play at the connectors.

I have this same exact problem!

In fact I ran VGA for a long time from my Nvidia 7300 LE to my Gateway FPD1975W TFT LCD with no problems.

Then I decided to "upgrade" to DVI-D and I get that frequent temporary (about 2 seconds)black screen and the strange little resets where the whole screen seems to subtley shift a couple centimeters.

I've checked my cables for connection and they seem super tight, though it is hard to get behind both my PC and my LCD. The retailer who sold me the cabl;e, of course, denies that it could possibly be the cable.

Any other ideas?

THANKS!

It could be the monitor resetting itself when you go to a screen rendered in another resolution.

I'm actually not using the native resolution cuz the scaling is off when I set my NVIDIA control panel to my LCD's native. I can't see the lower right corner of anything for some reason.

My native is 1440x900 and I'm using 1280x1024...

Does the scaling have anything to do with it?

THANKS!
