I just installed this door and it's my first storm door. This is the exact door I installed.

I had a couple questions.

1. I feel like the tube looking part on the bottom of the door that helps pull the door closed and slows it down (forget the name of the part) is louder than it should be. It almost makes a little clicking noise as it opens. Is that normal? My wife didn't think it was too loud.

2. The bottom half of the door when shut is noticeably not as "tight" as the top half of the door. There is some wiggle on the bottom like 1/4th of the door when it's shut. I can pull the handle tighter to pull it closer and you can see it gets tighter as I am pulling it. The top is as tight as could be. I am wondering too if when I installed the door I could have bent it somehow because at one point it tells you to just "pull" the door open with force, and I tried and the bottom was coming off but not where the latch is. I ended up having to google it and the guy in the video literally just pulls it hard and it opens, but mine didn't open that easily. I'm wondering if it's something I did or just the door frame, but wondering if I can do anything about it.

3. This is kind of in relation to #2, but when I just let it close on it's own, it slowly closes, than like a couple inches within the door latching it just kind of "gives" and closes fast at the last part. It's a bit loud and sounds like it's slamming, but I think it's louder because the bottom 1/4th of the door kind of bounces back/forth real quick in that area that has some give and isn't tight. Is there anyway to make it so it just slowly shuts to the latch? I did adjust the screw that changes speeds, but that seemed to adjust the speed the door shuts UNTIL it gets to that last few inches, then it just slams shut.

Think that is all. This is my first time ever with a storm door so just wondering about these.

1 Not sure

2 Sounds like the door is not in plane with the frame. Shim the frame accordingly.

3 Beside the screw adjustment on the closer, there are usually 2 points to attach the closer with the pin, one for warmer or colder weather. You can also move the connecting assembly left or right to adjust tension. The distance the closer is attached to the jamb in relation to the door also makes a difference.

Just installed one recently, it was fidgety

RE #3, that was something I was wondering about as far as the tension goes.

Initially I had the connection assembly screwed directly in the middle. However when I went to connect the closer to it and it wouldn't connect UNLESS I pulled the closer a bit to extend the metal pole in it, however I wasn't sure if that was okay to do because that means there would ALWAYS be tension on it. So instead of doing that, I then shifted the connection assembly on the door as far to one side as it could go in order to get the closer to connect without any tension on it.

If I adjust this the other way and force there to always be tension on it, could that help this issue a bit?

The door I installed required about a half inch to inch of tension with the door closed. It took a bit of left and right along with the screw adjustment on the closer to get it to latch softly.

Ah okay. Yeah I'd say it was like a 1/2" or so I had to move it. I will try adjusting that at some point over this weekend and see if it fixes that part of it.

Thanks.

Yw. The relationship of the closer pivot point at the jamb also makes a difference.
