Well, I got 2 12" rockford punch subs from a friend ($200 for the 2 subs + the box)

He couldn't sell the amp (a jensen 300 watt) so I ended up getting a kenwood 600 watt amp, and got a rockford self install kit...

My dad helped me quite a bit, and the install was sucessful (we didn't blow anything up!)

That stuff is easier than computer equipment! (the only hard part is making it look professional, but we hid the wires so damn well :))

:) Happy I can finally have some bass!

Congrats, I can't live without my bass :D

You didn't miss out on the Jensen amp, you're better off with the Kenwood.

I always say I'm gonna be deaf by 40 if not earlier..

oh well...

(being a dj w/ 2 15" subs you get used to a little bass here and there ;))

And no pics yet, if I want to take pics, i gotta make it look pretty, cuz behind the seat is a jungle of wires..

You're right - it is easier than computer equipment but making it look professional turns it into being much more difficult than computer equipment if it's a big job.

well, you have to look behind the seat otherwise you'd never know anything was installed...

The wires were run through a side section on the passengers side, and then through a floorboard cover (part that covers where the carpet ends and metal begins...) and then under the seatbelt contraption, so the only way to see a lotta wires is to look behind the seat, otherwise you'd never notice :)

I'll have to take pics sometime...

Sounds good, Paulson- a nice stereo in your car is always nice to have. I've got just something modest to give me some thump inside- not really too loud enough to go bassing around town, which isn't always my style. I've got a 100w x 1 Fosgate amp pushing a JL Audio 10" 10W0 in a custom-built precisely spec'd bandpass box. It's big, but sounds great inside. :)

If you thought the computer habit is hard to break... the car audio bug is even worse (and more expensive :p)

Ha! I've been through both world's! Started in JAM Auto Sound (Hence the nic) waaay back in '93. Had a good thing going for quite a while. Hooked up family and freinds, and freinds of family and friends. Til oh, about 1998 when I bought my first computer. 486dx66:eek: $125, came with a monitor, kb and mouse. And man oh man, what a bug I caught then. Now I think I'm pretty much done with my computer.

I have started to get back into the car audio scene. Just installed a pioneer double din head unit w/some JBL 4" two-way's up front. I'll be getting two Kicker amps and a Kicker 12" sub from a friend of mine this weekend, hah! in trade for some computer work! Go figure.:)

I'm going to try my luck installing a Rockford MP3 deck into my camry this weekend. My first foray into the world of car audio. Thank goodness the removal of the stock system in the car is a breeze.

Next step is to maybe add a bazooka tube for a little thump without going overboard.

Here are pictures of my car and system: Mungla's Eclipse

The subs were the easy part of my install. I have a 2003 Eclipse GT with the premium audio package (7 total speakers; 3 highs, 2 mids, 2 lows). The receiver that I have has only 4 high level outputs. I had to have all 3 highs running, as the left and right tweeters are 1" while the center is 3". So, I series'd the left and right channels together to make a center. I have discrete left and right, while the center plays both.

I love being able to play MP3 CD's and I'll be installing XM satellite radio later this fall.
