If anyone knows a way around this, LMK.

copy the
'documents and settings\username\application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles' directory, then put it back in the same place

The only browser i use anymore. and since using Firefox?
I did an ad-aware scan for the first time in a month and found 0, yes ZERO items. If that was IE, there would have been at LEAST a few. 10-20 things minimum.

EAT THAT Internet Exploiter!

As long as opening a new window loads my home page instead of the currently viewed page, I won't even consider FireFox. I also hate tabbed browsing and don't use mouse gestures. Aside from those issues, I've noticed no speed improvement during my experiences with FireFox (even over IE6 with the Google toolbar). *shrug* Just my two cents. I don't see why everybody loves it so much...

If anyone is a stickler for tried-and-true, it's me. I used Windows 95 for 7 years!

I finally got around to using FireFox 0.8 continuously a month ago. It's geniunely a better browser - not for the overhyper tabs functionality, but for:

- Less unexplained lag on certain pages.
- I like the cookie handling. You can easily force cookies in FireFox to has an expiry date of the current session. This lets me throw out a program I could not live without while using IE, Cookie Pal.
- Doesn't choke under the use of local web proxies like Proxomitron, which I use to kill pop-up and banner ads, as well as to rewrite this AT Forums into something a little more comfortable.

sure, could be partly, but think of those times when you get popups, and some crappy spyware app gets installed (not cookies).. this does not happen with FireFox, and only now that SP2 is out, is this possible with Explorer.

I still don't want to use IE anymore, I don't trust it.
256 bit encryption on FireFox is sweet too.

Don't forget the fact that IE SP2 is only available to WinXP SP2 users.

does the site tell you it requires IE? if so try getting a plugin called user agent switcher and tell the browser to report itself as IE.

Theres an extension that adds "open link in internet explorer" to the right click context menu, for those crappy sites that are coded for IE only.

I have given it a try, but I still prefer Opera over FF. That being said I would take Firefox over IE any day of the week.

holy crap, why didn't microsoft think of this years ago?

While we are on the subject why didn't they think of adding a pop up blocker, a little security, some tabs, and the great extensions in firefox?
