Just how old is too old :)

What is the most advanced CPU for the LGA775 socket?, does it matter what chip set it is? G41 Express chips set is North bridge and the ICH7 is South bridge..thanks again😀

Check slickdeals.net daily and see if the 120 gigs drives suit your pricing, they can be under $50 by now if i had to guess. SSDs go on sale way to often now. Just 2 years back the same SSD would cost 3x. At modern prices? Totally worth it for any system.

I just sold a q9550 yesterday and it was a slacker but I only ran it stock. I've still got a q6600 on an asus striker II formula in my spare pc. I'm thinking about selling that one too LOL.

Hey gang.🙂 I have an older computer, build in 2010. The motherboard is a Gigabyte G41MT S2PV version 2.1. with an E5700 dual core Intel CPU, 4GB ddr3 Ram. Is it too old for an SSD? :\

This is actually a perfect candidate for an SSD.

Once you port your OS to SSD you'll see the biggest improvement this system can get.

Thanks to adding an SSD and a new graphics card, I'm still relatively happy using my nearly six-year-old Core 2 Quad Q9450 setup for everything, including gaming. As someone else said, no PC with SATA is too old for an SSD. Oh, and if you're looking for a cpu upgrade, look for a Q9450 - they're fast, have loads of cache, and mine has been running stable and relatively silent at 3.2GHz for years (up from 2.66, equivalent to a QX9770) with just my motherboard's "CPU level up" auto OC and a cheapish air cooler.

One of my laptop (built on 2001) doesn't have sata but I still put a pata ssd on it. The ssd is more expensive than the laptop itself. Works great. I se the laptop as thin client so I don't need any fancy CPU power.
