Thanks to adding an SSD and a new graphics card, I'm still relatively happy using my nearly six-year-old Core 2 Quad Q9450 setup for everything, including gaming. As someone else said, no PC with SATA is too old for an SSD. Oh, and if you're looking for a cpu upgrade, look for a Q9450 - they're fast, have loads of cache, and mine has been running stable and relatively silent at 3.2GHz for years (up from 2.66, equivalent to a QX9770) with just my motherboard's "CPU level up" auto OC and a cheapish air cooler.
