Im sure thats going to be an enormous figure of jobs lost.

Employees of a subsidiary company.

The company was informed of Hondas production cuts and the corresponding cuts in jobs because it affects the quantity of parts they need from the subsidiary.

Still, how does this equate to 10%? That is an awful lot of people. I have seen nothing about this as I scour the web.

Good for them nice to see under the Obama admin another company taking a loss 🙂

It's a bit early to be placing blame on Obama isnt it? (independant voter)

Nah, never too early.
This, already his administration is a complete and utter failure. He's had what almost 72 hours and the economy isn't fixed, complete write-off.

Why not? Before he took office people were already proclaiming his presidency a success!

You heard about a supplier - not Honda. Suppliers feel the brunt of a slow down because their business is directly impacted by volume. All manufacturers are slowing down their lines, more non-production days, etc. That means suppliers aren't supplying as many parts.

That means suppliers have to slow down production and along with it lay people off, but in general suppliers get hurt more than the manufacturer because of the slim margins.

Oh and a lot of manufacturers have already let go of all variable workforce so I wouldn't be surprised if honda does the same.

I'm thinking that means 10% of the supplier company and not of Honda's employees. I'd be surprised if that was the case, but these days, who knows.

Geez, quit being a tool, this has nothing to do with Obama.

In just a couple days in office? Jeebus, what do you expect him to just wave a wand and all will be right in a few hours? This mess took years to get into and it will take years to get out of.

Oh, and holy hear-say batman!

To clarify, the supplier was told that Honda is laying off 10% of its workforce on monday.
